Hi has anyone ordered from ministry of pinball , they have jm plastics so thinking of placing an order with them , are they any good ? Will I get charged customs when the order comes in ? Is there any where else to consider don’t fancy ordering from Marco with the high shipping costs

Plastics are hit and miss. Got JD shooter lane plastic which came out good. Got Hook decals once and only shipped with 3/4 targets. Was told this was sold as intended with no option to buy 1, only another 3...

I use them fairly often. Customs charges are random at best.

It's one of the only places to get ramps and preditti games mods.

UK kind of sucks for replacement parts...

Whilst the sales process is technically different, there is no material financial difference pre- and post- Brexit buying from the EU - see this post for more details.
That's fine when you are buying from a VAT registered company, but it certainly isn't true when you are buying from an individual as you are effectively taxed twice. There is no recognition of the fact that VAT has already been paid by an individual. Once again it's advantageous to be a company rather than a human being!

Yes, I queried this with them a while back and they said that it is hit and miss if we get charged tax again!

I'm not following that? If they (Ministry of Pinball, selling new parts/spares/a machine) create a Dutch export order, they should zero rate it for local Dutch VAT. When it arrives at a UK port, UK import VAT is due. If the item isn't declared at the port, then it might not get charged UK VAT, but I don't follow how the scenario of "we get charged tax again" can occur? What tax do you mean is charged for again?

Do you mean if you are buying a used machine, which the end-user owner purchased from their home EU country, which is still situated in the EU, so you are personally arranging an import, and they previously paid local VAT on it? If so, in that scenario yes, I can see how you'd effectively have ended up paying the local VAT and the UK VAT. Is that what you meant?

That's not the scenario being discussed in this post though - which is a purchase of new items from a company, Ministry of Pinball.

I have ordered from Ministry of Pinball and Pinball Center in Germany. PC tends to have a larger range of bits and they are reliable. Some prices are very good but some can be higher than elsewhere - still far less expensive than Marco.
PC ship either via DHL or Deutsche Post which is half the cost of DHL. PC advise Deutsche Post can take 4 weeks to deliver - I have found that they may take a day or two longer than DHL but a good service. I personally haver never been charged VAT etc. from MoP or PC other than initial supplier VAT.
From the US, Pinball Life tend to have the best prices but their range can be limited. Like Marco you will be stung for import duty/VAT etc.

They were charging Dutch tax to UK orders but that was not long after Brexit and they knew what was going on and we could also be charged uk tax on top of Dutch tax, may have changed and not ordered since they told me this.

Ahh, that makes more sense. I'd expect they have changed/corrected their process by now, but if anyone finds they are still attempting to charge Dutch VAT now, they could forward them this link from the Dutch Chamber of Commerce which explains the Dutch (EU-wide actually) legislation, and how the export order should be zero-rated for VAT.

If you want truly crappy plastics then this is the place.
A bold statement. I have received poor plastics from several suppliers with Min of Pinball being bad enough to return plastics for exchange. Recently purchased Shadow and Firepower plastics from PC and truly no crap on them - colours matched original plastics. A space in the market for quality plastics.
