Hi,

Have spent a little of my afternoon at Funland Brunswick Square trying the machines I found myself really liking the mandalorian pro. I found it not a ball drainer and got some ok ish scores of 160 million. I kept going back to it after having one or two go on the others.

I was wondering two thing:

What is the difference in play between the pro and premium?

I found the top mini playfield and top flipper totally pointless with zero skill in hitting the targets, similar to the mini playfield under acdc. I see the premium has two flippers and it does something ,but does it make it playable or is it a pointless gimmick.

The only other thing I can see is the wireform ramps which I don't care about, you can get a set for £200 and some sort of ball magnet lock I think similar to Elvis, but can't be sure.

What are peoples thoughts?

I can see a new pro is just under £8k how much does a second hand pro go for?

Thanks

It is getting a 2nd hand pro or premium.

Lately pro sterns made a couple of years ago are getting people most their money back when sold.
Thanks, that's what I thought.

Have you played the premium is it better or the same.

Main difference, in gameplay, between the Pro and Prem is that the upper playfield has only 1 flipper on the Pro, as opposed to 2 flippers on the Prem. Not sure how you can that there is zero skill up there (nor on AcDc)? You make the shots required in the same way you would with normal flippers. Completing them is vital to completing Encouters and getting to the Red Mini Wizard Mode, and thus the overall Wizard Mode.

There is also a difference with a return/ramp (Sniper shot) just to the left of the right ramp.

Both versions suffer from the fact shooting the centre 'ramp' over and over is a viable strategy, despite changes made to the code from release.

I watched quite a lot of Jack Danger playing the Premium and it seemed to me he had only partial control over the upper playfield.

As I remember it (and I'm not going to wade through it again) he would repeatedly put the ball up there to collect required targets and manage just one flip before immediately losing it back onto the main playfield.

He made it look pretty difficult and I wondered if a lesser player would have to rely more on luck than skill to hit a target up there.

There's a premium at Alans that we play during the Irish League..
I liked it but haven't played the pro. Not sure the differences justify the price hike (for me anyhow) the moving mini playfield is a nice feature but after you have seen it once or twice the novelty soon wears off (again for me anyhow)

Thanks that's useful

Being a lesser player it's pure luck with the upper Mini, the ball feeds in you get one shot, which seems pretty random in what it will hit, in my opinion the area too small to do anything meaningful. That's useful that a top player gets just one filp, which tells me it's what I personally was thinking it might be useless and not worth £2,000 uplift.

Hold the flipper up and it traps the ball. Then take your time to aim.
Biggest mistake is holding the flipper up once you've flipped, almost guaranteed to only get one shot then.
Short snappy flips.

On the Prem you can wait until the upper playfield tilts so it's less steep. (Can't remember on the Pro, but doubt it tilts)

Thanks Ian, looking forward to playing it, hopefully it will be on a weekend I can make 😀

I suspected that was the case, it was the two flippers that threw me, I thought perhaps they made the area bigger making it more about skill keeping it up there than random luck. But based upon JWG9999 vid of a top player playing it it looks like perhaps a novelty item, I need to give the video a watch.

My daughter started to watch the mandalorian without me asking or being involved, so I thought it might be a good family machine. However I don't have a spare £4k 😀😏

Knowing what LOTR is worth I was wondering if a pro went for Around the £6k ish mark but perhaps in this market it still nib price, although paralex has one at the moment for £7.6.

Think il give it a good go if possible in the league meet.

To be honest I'm more kicking the tyres in my head, I can only fit one machine and could never justify the current costs for two.

You need to pop over 😀

Thanks, pro doesn't tilt, flat and only has one flipper. I remember that tip
