Shouldn’t happen if done up properly and I have done many high draw connections over the years.
I have a tool to torque these up but mostly done up by hand, tight and a bit more!
My electrician does all these sorts of things up very tightly. I have known him 10 years and initially was concerned he might strip threads, but he obviously does it for a reason.
Either a loose screw or a resistive contact within the unit, probably the former. I had a 13A plug fail at the joint between the fuse holder and the Live pin. It was ok until I ran a fan heater at full pelt.
Yes, I bought the tool but for me it wasn’t as tight as I like it so carried on the way I have always done it (by hand) without issues.
But guess it should be better than doing it not as tight as I have redone peoples work that are not tight enough and getting hot.
Always good to check these if lots of power is being used regularly anyway.
I have a Fluke thermal imager that is good for checking hot spots quickly.
