Has anyone toyed with the flipper settings 53-55 in Standard Adjustments as guided in the attached pdf.

Just wondering who is using 1 ball or 2 ball modes in Destroy The Ring..

Particularly anyone using 2 ball DTR, are you capable of knocking that held 1st ball through and with what settings on adjustments?:-
53 = minimum fire time
54 = maximumfire time
55 = end of stroke coil to continue firing

2 balls change the coils there special ones specifically designed for LOTR zero flipper fade for the stupidly long games that allow you the power to knock the 2nd ball from the mahnet

Although customs will impound it for 4 weeks as it's so dense and fails x-rays 🤣

Or just buy it from Andy and save the customs backlog

I switched mine to 2 ball and as it was holding the ball it used to blow out the coil power transistor.
Thanks Alan, but doesn't 2 balls put more strain on the magnet coils what with ball one being held until knocked out, whereas one ball Destroy The Ring only momuntarily holds the first ball?

Yeah I already have those uprated coils as it happens, I was actually asking about flipper settings 53 to 55 in standard adjustments.

On long games, even the uprated flipper coils still get flipper fade. So whilst they were designed for zero fade, they are just improved.

So I was wondered in other peoples settings but I shall upload my current knowledge for all.

Stern Service Bulletin No.151 was on this topic.

Standard Settings Are:-
53 = 10
54 = 50
55 = 3

However After Updating to OS8 & Installing 10.02 & LE Roms, standard Settings Are:-

53 = 20
54 = 50
55 = 3

And so it seems Stern decided to make changes on the LE which gave the flipper setting 53 which is "Minimum Fire Time for a Flipper Coil", they updated the minimum fire time from 10 milliseconds to 20 milliseconds.
Therefore you could say these should be the minimum setting that you should have as this was a few years down the line from original configuration.

Obviously Stern knew of a minor issue at some point due to the uprated coils being advised and then the additional fire time. But the thing is, Stern was also aware of Flipper Fade during Service Bulletin No.151 (dated 2004), but as I know from personal experience, these coils still fade on long sessions, ie I can play for an hour and at some point over many games, there is a real good game that lasts yonks and this is where fade exists. This would be less play to a pin being on site and so home environment might not see this often, but sites would definately have to bear the setting 53, 54 & 55 in mind.

But at home, when long sessions are less frequent, I would guess that it is possible to tweak this a tad more.

exactly ! it kept burning out my transistor due to the extra current draw.

Sorry, @AlanJ , I misread your 1st post, I get you now.

So you switched back to one ball after it kept blowing whilst using two balls 🙃
