Nintendo’s Zelda games, particularly Link to the past and Ocarina of time, plus more recently Breath of the Wild, have made a lasting impression on my mind. I recall parts of them all very fondly, and love how each is similar enough yet different, like a series of related books by the same author spanning 30-odd years.

Anyway, enough about my sad obsessions, someone over on Pinside has done their own Zelda Pinball using FAST:

I'm sure I read somewhere once that Gottliebs Gladiators was actually originally going to be a Zelda themed machine but Gottlieb/Premier couldn't get the license?

Yep. Straight from Jon Norris, the designer - http://www.norrispinball.com/blog/?p=30

Though this is also confirmed in the thread Monkeyboypaul already linked!
Interesting article from Jon that I've never seen thanks for linking that! I didn't read all the Pinside thread apologies. Gladiators isn't a game I've ever been attracted to so it's a shame it never made it as Zelda, that would of been awesome

It's amazing Gottlieb produced any strong games at all with that development methodology!

"We usually got 12 to 15 weeks, while the other companies design teams usually got 12 to 15 months..... we were forced to live with or modify mistakes with only what we had on hand. Also, once a game was shipped, no software updates were allowed, so if we found that the game rules were out of balance, we had to live with that rather than make a correction and release a software update "

Agreed! Sounds like big pressure on everyone creative there. Absolute madness!

An official Nintendo Zelda pinball machine would sell like hot cakes.........

The theme is just amazing and can you imagine that soundtrack!

The problem is, I think Nintendo have been burned with pinball!

However, imagine a JJP of Zelda.........
