Right now on eBay there is a Kiss pinball for an opulent 3,295. Now it looks nice and has been extensively worked on. But is this for real ? Might someone actually pay anything like this ? I met a guy who has been sitting on a good Kiss playfield that he thinks is worth good money, but I don't get it.

There have been a few similar era games advertised over the past three months - Harlem Globetrotters, Silverball Mania, Bobby Orr Power Plays etc. All have had some money spent on them, all are seeking 750 to 900 money with no takers.

Views will differ on how helpful the Pinside ratings are, but they are a rough guide. Pinside puts Kiss at a lowly 191 on the rankings and I do not recall anything memorable about this game. They are not rare, with 17,000 or so being made

Kiss is a popular band with some folk, especially in America. But does it have a hidden value that Pinside is missing ?

Or is it just aimed at guys who like 4 men covered in black and white makeup and who pay a juicy premium for this sort of thing ? I imagine that a bottle containing genuine vomit from this band would sell for some money.

Remember the £11k Addams Family Gold that was re-listed a few times recently?
Currently Stupid Mario Mushroom World for £5.6k BIN (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321619915766?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT)

Quite simply, its chancers making these auctions. They know there's very little chance of them selling at such price but hold out for someone un-informed with lots of money on a nostalgia trip wanting one and not knowing any better. Strictly speaking they are doing nothing wrong, no laws or eBay rules are being broken by these prices.

Bally Kiss and Rolling Stones machines have always attracted a premium over other games of that era, Kiss especially so. The game play is no different to anything else around at the time.

Anything to do with a rock band seems to attract a premium price. There is a strong demand for these games from keen fans of the bands who are not normally into pins.

Add in the Pre-Christmas Madness premium, and you will get sellers asking for crazy prizes for these types of games.
