I’m a bit of a sucker for SEGA games. Had Batman, id4, Godzilla and SST and enjoyed them all. I was toying with picking up a JP-lost world but I’ve never played it. Had a quick look on YouTube at gameplay and the word “minimalist“ sprang to mind. The play field looks wide open and the toys aren’t exactly exciting.

Is it better in real life?

Is it the worst of the SEGA games?

Am I missing out as my gut feeling is to give it a miss.

Im the same love De sega stuff, owned all the movie related ones, all the ones u have owned i love Sst being my fav, lost world was one of my first pins i owned the ramps where nice and smooth and fast but the toys feel a little cheap and dull, i had endless problems with the jeep snagger on mine, if u have not owned one its worth a shot nothing to loose, easy to re sale, but not as good as Godzilla Id4 Batman etc etc just my opinion i did enjoy it at the time, but been a long time

Not played it, but surely it can't be worse than X Files.
There’s nothing wrong with X Files, if you can shoot the ramps smoothly its a great flowing game!

I thought Lost World was OK but nothing more than that. The snagger toy is good as long as it works reliably. I’m not a fan of the Showcase back box design and I think this (like X Files to be fair) only has one back box speaker which seems to result in muffled sound.

DE Jurassic Park is much better!

I agree about the ramps but that's all the positives I can think of. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Thanks guys. I’d forgotten how dire Space Jam was.

doesn’t sound like I’m missing out on a hidden gem then 😉

Sega Showcase killed the data east run of brilliance. Cost cutting, plastic, flimsy, empty playfields, lousy art, cheap printing and dire sound.

It was a real backward step moving to Mono after so many years ahead of the game with their brilliant audio board. That's about all they had going over WMS and they fcked it. Idiots.

Damn you Sega.

That said I'd go for it..

I “think” the audio section that was never installed by cost cutting is possible to retro fit? Attached is a pinball article that I read I may even have a kit somewhere? Not done it has anyone else? Is it worthwhile?

Quote from article: "Well I think it sounds noticeably better and, despite the speakers being close together, you do notice the stereo effects so I consider it worth the effort and expense for home use"

Errm. Does that mean these games were mastered in stereo but the playback hardware only wired up one channel??

I just don't beleive it. Surely.

That would just blow my mind for so many reasons.

A build decision not being fed back to the artists?

The artists knowing, but producing the stereo tracks anyway?

No-one really caring?

I need to dust off my ID4!

Thanks for the feedback guys. Think I‘m going to pass on it as it wasn’t exceptionally cheap and I’m already 4 machines over my limit. I don’t think I’ve missed out on a hidden gem.

Thank god another bullet dodged at the league this year LOL

Well I have both this and an Xfiles! I now feel inferior! but both these are way better than Maverick!

Don’t worry Neil there’s plenty of time for me to source some real dogs. Gilligan’s island or nightmare of elm street could be purchased

Just no more band pins LOL
