Jet bumper blues

Hi all,

LOn my T2 the bottom, middle jet bumper isn’t bumping. I’ve prodded the switch under the playfield and it works, and if I press both sides of the bottom disc on the playfield, it’ll work, but won’t under normal play circumstances.

Seems like it could need a switch adjust but I’ve never adjusted the switch on a jet bumper before, any idea how I do this?

First thing to try before you start bending blades is to clean the contacts.. sliver of cereal box card, folded in half so that the brown side is facing outwards, then push between the switch blades

That'll be enough to clean them, no need for switch cleaner, however if you do need to use it then spray the card not the switch.

Also clean the cup and point so so that they're free moving.

If no improvement you can bend the lower leaf inward slightly to close the contact gap. Very slightly though. Harder to reverse.

When I prod the switch from the back under the playfield, it responds every time, when I prod the red disc on top of the play field, it’ll only reluctantly respond at the sides and not at the front where the ball will likely hit. 🤔

Is the pin of the wafer in the middle of the cup (lift the cup off and see if it settles in the right place)? If yes, you need to adjust the switch gap as per above. There is a tool for that, but needle nose pliers will do. Bend where the blade joins the switch body. If the cup doesn’t align loosen the switch and adjust.
