Same - although I've made a pact with myself today only to use the one day delivery when I have to. Otherwise they send everything separately in those bubble bags and I get terrible eco guilt.
I was going to ask about this - what kind of prep do you need to do?
I've just finished the woodworking side of a VPin, and I've got some decals to apply
Currently bare plywood, are you supposed to prime it or just decal to wood?
What about the edges - do you need to use some sort of sealant to stop them lifting?
I would prime first, only because when I've tried to bare wood it didn't stick particularly well. Others might have had different results as I expect it was probably down to the decals I used this time also.
You can go over the edges lightly with a hot air gun to get them to adhere better.
Good vid showing the application here (from pinballdecals.eu).
Most important thing other than application - That cab has to be 100% perfect.. any blemishes, changes in texture etc etc WILL become obvious once the decals are on.
All about preparation, as said some sort of primer or primer filler paint until the finish is as flat as glass sanding between coats until no imperfections.
Nothing worse then new decals on a badly prepped cabinet
Thats why I’m putting Radcals on my IJ, life is too short plus they look pretty good!
Prep depends on where the decals come from, are they laminated, what final finish do they have (satin or gloss) and are you going to clear coat over them.
I have chewed this over with @PeteB briefly a while back.
