I have a pin spaced hole in the playroom since moving on the STTNG and am pining after a new pin..the Star Trek funds are sitting in the bank, but my next pin ambitions are growing so may have to dip into savings too. I've been broaching the subject of a new pin with the Mrs for a week or so, and she's very much in the "no way" camp at the moment. Me being on holiday from work, I'm fully expecting to go on a pin collection day trip at some point next week. But would be good to do it whilst maintaining marital harmony..

So fellow pin lovers, I'm looking for partner management strategies, preferably successful ones but failing that amusing one's will do..

Good Boy Scenario:
Ask her why she doesn't want you to buy another pinball machine, do this over a meal with a glass of wine. Listen to her reasons, is there something she would like to have? Discuss what you need to do for her before you can buy another pin? Share the funds between what she wants and get a lesser pin if required.

Bad Boy Scenario:
Lie about the price of a pin, tell her it is a bargain that you will make money on, you just need to keep it for a few months and then sell it to make a lot of money. You will use this money to take her on holiday.

Reality:
Buy it and sleep under it until she calms down or leaves. If she leaves, put pinball machine in the bedroom and kitchen.

Just buy it!! Then hold on to your balls in the cross fire that will ensue, then for the next few weeks keep your head down till the **** stops flying, lie about the cost, then sell, then repeat, eventually she will not care anymore.

Get a grip soldier :smokin: .....Everyone needs a passion ...if pinball is yrs then nothing should stop that ...life is WAAAAAAY too short. Buy a pin ASAP *

*and if there is grief just use the old 'better than money in the bank' line etc, which is actually pretty true these days.

Is there anything else in the house which needs sorting first? My missus is cool with me buying new pins as long as essentials are taken care of first.

But..... To be honest I agree with gaz my mrs is really cool she plays pinball, goes to shows and has allowed me a v v big space for my games so she is ace:)

I have no leg to stand on, I had to buy the second machine so we had one each to play. We are now planning an extension so a few more can go in there.
As long as I keep my Missus happy and do the man-jobs about the house she is fine with me enjoying pinball.

This is where I am at the moment. I think it's maybe coming across that it's inevitable, and it's going down like a sh1t-sandwich, but thus is life :-)

There is no way of changing a woman's mind once its made. She can see plenty of better things to spend the money on, Holiday, Spa weekend, shopping trip etc.
Do whats already been said buy the machine and take the flack, They all calm down eventually and move on to moaning about something else.

Ain't that the truth ;) Wise words Mr Ball, wise words!

Ahh yes mr ball I've heard you say that a few times .....( I've bunged her a few quid to go shopping)I think all women are happy to accept a bribe ,mine defo!

I can pretty much do what i like with pinball. I find being an utter chauvanist pig works well. Treat 'em mean 'n all that.... :)

I don't smoke, drink only occasionally. Spend very little on clothes etc. So **** it my first pin is probably going to be a mint top title. Can you not do some overtime at work and lie to her about the price lol Pins hold money these days and won't cost much if you get a good,un. Tell her how much electric fitting LED's save over old style lamps lol Look how much you would loose if you bought a new car.

agree. my missus keeps me on a very tight leash, she hates anything to do with pinball and resents my pin trips, so much so that i have to take my one-year-old with me to meets these days. she doesn't know how many games i have, and i try to keep her in the dark as much as possible. she has no idea that Martin will be visiting next week, so he knows to call me from outside and to hide out of sight. if she does spot him, i'll have to tell her he's bringing back one that he borrowed, or lie that i've done a swap and he's already taken away the xzy-zxy pin that she's also never heard of. somehow i've got her to agree to coming along for the Daventry show though.

so either just tell her and take the flak, or lie about the cost. either way, life's too short to regret not doing something.

Snap! Martin is also making a secret visit to me next week.....

Got caught red handed last summer. I'd arranged Martin to drop off 2 hours before my wife was due to come home. Unfortunately he ended up running late due to traffic. Anna turned up at home and sat in the garden, enjoying the sun. 10 mins later Martin arrived so I had to walk past her carrying a Spiderman. Much tutting and questions about why did I need another one and how much was it. Matters were made far worse 2 mins later when I brought a Flintstones past her. My logic of saving on delivery costs cut absolutely no ice.

That's actually really funny but messed up that you have to go to such lengths. I don't get why some women have such a prob with man hobbies.

That reminds me hopefully Martin will be visiting me next week. Was hoping it would of been this week so I could tinker while off for 4 days. Tomb raider and gow4 will have to entertain me
