The quality of the tournament is just staggering, we can only dream of having such an event in the UK - it’s a bit depressing really! Europe and especially the UK is so far behind.
It's the logistics of it all we have a good few collectors up north with massive collections that between a few of them total at least 250. But it's getting them all to one place.
lottery funding needed for the UK national pinball museum. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji2]
The difference in price for a NIB machine in US compared to Europe, and even moreso UK, has got to be a major factor as well. It's the logistics of it all we have a good few collectors up north with massive collections that between a few of them total at least 250. It really doesn't help when similar formats, are introduced into the UK there's an uproar with pages of complaints on here that its 'pay to win' and people slag it off without ever having played - and even those familiar with the format slag it off for reasons best known to themselves. The quality of the tournament is just staggering, we can only dream of having such an event in the UK - it’s a bit depressing really! Looks amazing. Was this particularly early/late, or was so many pins with nobody playing them the norm, unlike the big events in the UK?
Seeing as @Neil McRae is doing all the talking... I'll add my 5p
Location - Banning, seems like a truckers town... Basically a singular long road that runs along the I-10... Wish we had booked to stay in Palm Springs
Museum of Pinball - Wow of wow this place is seriously insane in scale and for one mans collection its mind blowing! Even if your not into playing the tournaments, you should consider coming along to play all the machines on freeplay... Over 500
Really loved playing lots of the EM's and SS... Ballys Blackwater 100 which I've never even heard of, is a brilliant machine
Competition is great... But really really hard... The machines are setup extremely hard... Posts removed, Gates removed, Rubbers removed... Polished... Jacked up....
And you really need a ticket with 5 great games or your toast lol
The UK (and to an extent the EU) is stuck in the dark ages of competitive pinball.

Maybe there just aren't enough people that into competitive play in the UK ?? We have a different scene here, the whole 'barcade' thing is wildly different etc etc ....many reason I'm sure
Different people enjoy the hobby in different ways ....and I know I'm not alone in loving pinball yet caring little for competitions.
posts gates and rubbers removed. that’s harsh and arguably incorrect. machines should be setup as intended.

Well that rules out a lot of machines from competition as they would go on forever - this way slight changes make games good for competition - but take the Dialed in there is nothing really changed in it - it just plays super fast with very sensitive slings and no kickback enabled by default.
They have an epic theatre of magic here that is modified to be super hard - I can put 3B on mine (which isn’t set up too easy) but best score I got was 250M on it.

If more people would donate machines, I’d look for a bigger venue.
