Stern are re-making IM for all those who missed out on this awesome game :D

MELROSE PARK, IL – June 12, 2014 – Stern Pinball, Inc., the world's oldest and largest producer of arcade-quality pinball games, announced today it is opening the Stern Vault for re-release of Iron Man™ Pro. The Iron Man pinball machine features visuals, speech, music and sound effects from the Marvel blockbuster films Iron Man and Iron Man 2. After numerous requests from the pinball community, Stern is re-introducing this exceptional game.
Originally released in 2010, the Iron Man Pro model continues to bring the battle between billionaire industrialist, Tony Stark/Iron Man, and his enemies to the fingertips and flippers of pinball players. With non-stop action, Iron Man Pro Vault Edition heightens the excitement, bringing back a classic game for the players of any age and skill level.
Iron Man Pro Vault Edition features technological and manufacturing upgrades utilized by Stern in its current Pro models. Among the improvements is all LED playfield lighting. Iron Man is manufactured with Stern’s updated modern metal and wood back box with red t-molding and with a decaled cabinet and speaker housing. The Iron Monger, War Machine and Whiplash figures have been molded in one piece construction for improved strength.
“Operators tell us Iron Man is a great earning pinball game, and enthusiasts tell us it’s a great playing game. We didn’t make enough,” said Gary Stern, founder, CEO and chairman of Stern Pinball.
Look for future Stern Vault Editions.

Only got to play this for about 10 minutes, would love just 10 minutes more...

Briefly played IM at Todler's last year. Sounded great, looked the part, but i was left wanting to play Spiderman more... definitely think it's worth playing again though. And this remake can only increase numbers which might make it that little bit easier to find again.

Among the improvements is all LED playfield lighting.

I reckon Tron would benefit massively from this - perhaps a Tron Legacy 2.1 remake with RGB?

The line at the end states they will re-release further games in the future. Makes sense but it will probably reduce prices slightly. Wonder if we will SE the likes of TSPP and SM again

bet the prices will only ever go up or at the very least stay as they are!!. It's a big myth this "if we reproduce it'll cost less", since they are understandably out to get as much as they can :(

I meant the second hand prices. The likes of Tron, SM etc. are £3-3.5k currently. If you can buy brand new at £4-4.5k the second hand prices may drop 10-20%

Well they are making another tron film maybe they will do a totally new tron machine

I've already emailed Phil at Pinball Heaven to find out how much they'll be going for over here as I've been interested in getting an IM for a while now... how much do we reckon? Current Pro prices or slightly more? To be honest I'm not sure there are any other older Sterns I'd be interested in going the NIB route for, but IM seems to be a rare find over here.

Wonder what else is going to come out of the "vault". LOTR would make sense for when the Hobbit comes out. Tron would probably make sense as would Spiderman.

Out of over 20 games bought in last couple of years IM is the only keeper. Great game.

Well, Marvel characters and Tron are all Disney owned. Maybe they sorted a bulk "Vault" contract for a few different Disney properties. One can hope! :)

That last line in the press release is most interesting:

Look for future Stern Vault Editions.

Interesting because for Stern it means new games without all the cost of developing a new game from scratch. Sure, there will be costs involved bringing these older games up to spec with their current models, but that's fractional. So, does this signal that pinball really is having a full-on revival if Stern are re-releasing popular models? At this rate might some entrepreneurial hotshot come along and try to resurrect the Williams or Bally brands? Clearly people see a market hence remakes of machines like Medieval Madeness, etc., and indie companies SkitB (Predator) and Homepin (Thunderbirds).

Whatever the story this seems like a very interesting time for pinball!

So, is anyone on here buying one?
Will be interesting to see the cosmetic differences. Pinside are hoping for updated code but with a new operating system it may not be backwards compatible.

they might be using up the last of the 'sam' stuff to make it

Wonder how much they will sting you for one ?
Seeing as LE, Premium and Pro were not an option I would like to see were Stern price this one.
My bet would be a LE price.

Just above regular pro pricing, I hear there's yet another price rise (must be for all the R&D!!) but to be honest I'm pleased they're getting another 500 or so IMs out there

Basically they are taking a game they already have everything designed for and selling it for more than they did when they had to fund the development and software in the first place . £4750 ain't cheap for a re run
