If you were buying The Shadow.....

As said above about Sanctum wear (expect some) and how reliably it catches the ball, also the plastic below the drop from the battlefield can take a beating.
The welds on the metal ramps aren't that strong and having the diverters misaligned slightly causes the diverter to smack the sides and can break the welds underneath.

Check the side walls of both ramps as these break and are often welded.
Check for excessive play in the phurba diverter linkage (easy to replace but can cause more damage to ramps)

Playfield flaking around the red scarf area, near the upper flipper

Working mini pf kicker - the long range opto is hard to repair

Working wall target - mechanicals wear badly below the playfield

Plunger gun in place

Wish I had never sold mine

Is it the most overrated game of all time? :p

Sorry but it had to be done. I sold mine after it sat un-played after about a month I just didn't get it. That said its each to their own and there's no such thing as a bad game if its your only pin.

It’s one of the most underpriced games for its quality!
I said Over Rated not under priced as I think you get a lot for your money if its sub £3k
Mine was a really nice one albeit not collector quality. I added my protectors and few other bits and sold it on shortly afterwards for £2250 during lockdown.
I'm not sure where it is now but I bet its not as much of a bargain now so saying its under priced is more a matter of what you are paying IMO

Coolest ball lock in pinball, arguably the best mini PF and the cab art at least is great, its all about flowing from one fast shot to the next and using the buttons to feed the ball to where you need it, that 1 game in 10 where your in the zone..... Its ace.

That’s what I mean. It’s an incredible pin at a sub-£3k price point and I’m amazed that White Water, for example, goes for quite a bit more.

It feels like it’s just got a bad reputation due to being themed around a terrible film, but the first one I ever played had the alternative backglass, and I was so fascinated by both the gameplay and wacky thematic elements (e.g. the Phurbas, Berilyum Sphere) that I went home and watched the film (which is pretty bad). The one I played first had a lot of restoration work on it and I had NO idea it was from the 90s.

If we had more money and space, I’d definitely try to own one. It is very fun.

If you were to get a shadow you could use that £50 you won for new titan rubbers or comets?😏🤣

Check the diverters are swinging from side to side without getting stuck somewhere in between.
Check the sanctum for excessive wear.
