I've still got a £1 note - good news that the bank will still take them, if times get hard...

Nope, they'll exchange that too... for 50p. The Bank Of England will honour any note it has ever issued!
The main bugger is you'll have to go to London to exchange them at the bank itself after October.
You can put them in the post with a stamped return addressed envelope.
50p to send it and 50p for return stamp and I'll only get 50p for it so bugger that I'll keep it and frame it!!
Good point, well made. Probably worth more as a presentation anyway.
