Completely lost my pinball Mojo????? WTF

Got a whole roomful of pins, but absolutely no interest in playing them. For 5 weeks. Not even given them a 2nd glance.

Maybe I'm spending too much time on my clocks.

Do I sell or wait n hope mojo revisits?

I think it’s natural for interest in anything to wax and wane over time. Personally I wouldn’t sell everything all at once just because of a lack of interest for a short time.

Maybe something new could refresh everything? Is there a game that you think might spark your interest back up again? If not I wouldn’t force it either. If you’re enjoying other things at the moment, just enjoy that.

Let’s say you sold a machine or a few machines, is there anything you would do with the money that would bring some joy or entertainment? Or anything the space could be used for that’s of more interest right now? If so maybe do that but keep some machines in case you find love for pinball again. If it still doesn’t interest you over a longer period of time then I’d probably downsize slowly, not sure how many machine you have?

All just my opinion though! I think even if I lose interest at some point, as long as I have space, can physically play and do basic maintenance, I’ll always have 1 machine.

5 weeks is nothing. Sometimes other stuff is more important or interest wanes.

I would wait 6-12 months before selling not 5 weeks.

When I first had kids I didn't touch any pins or vids for years. Just an occasional blast on the Xbox.

I've been in a rut for about 6 years now. As Alpha1 said though, 5 weeks is nothing really,

I think everyone goes through slumps.

I I like knowing I can play if the mood takes me but I can go for weeks without turning a game on. There’s games in the collection that I haven’t switched on since June.

Agree with everyone else - interest comes and goes.
Maybe you just need a new resto project - time you get through it you will be wishing it was done so you can get back to playing :)

Mojo will return 100%.

I had a period three years ago when things weren't great at home . . . . I don't think I played for over 3 months and had no interest at all. Now I play every day.

Don't sell your games mate (unless you want to sell me a restored classic 😉😂).

Could be a weather thing, when the nights draw in I find it hard to find much motivation to do anything of an evening.
What's your line-up like at the moment? could offer up one for a trade, maybe something new will rekindle your interest.

Mine are in the garage, so gets a bit chilly to play in the winter, its nice to rediscover them in the spring, perhaps a little break sometimes is just natural.

All these people on here with loads of lovely Pins they don't play seems criminal.

Maybe put a time limit on it. Any game you haven't played for , say, 9 months needs to go.

I guess many take a pin rain check.
Was gonna punt everything…
Fcuked my back big time for a whole year since Dec 22 up till now.
Couldn’t even stand for a minute and play pinball without being in total agony.
Gave up my job as couldn’t even work from home due to pain frying my brain.
Herniated disc taking occupancy in my spinal canal, NHS waiting lists suck ass etc…...
Jack Daniels got me through some bad times, starting recently playing again. Glad I didn’t sell…
Booked for surgery next week… maybe the Mrs will punt all my stuff if I don’t come home 😂😬

Been here many times over past 30yr and the mojo always returns.
In that time a lot of hobbies have came and went but pinball has always returned.

Do yourself a favour unless you need the money just hang into them as it’s a lot harder getting some of them back in the fold.

There is no law saying you need to play them ;) Only sell if you need the space or the cash or you can't bear to look at them. If you loved them once, you likely will again, unless it's the thrill of the chase, the wreck, the repair.

It's natural to be interested in other things too.

Mojo comes and goes but after 20 years owning pins I have def found my passion waning the last few years. Stopped going to shows, meets, don't post anywhere nearly as much on here as used to. Have little flurries of interest , thats as good as it gets these days and I settle for that, but really don't play that much at all.
Sometimes just feels like a habit - can't remember not having pins. I'm almost at the point now though if I woke up and all the pins were gone ... I don't actually think I'd be that bothered. Oh well. My name is GrizZ and I'm a recovering pinball addict .:D

I'd suggest you sell one, buy another title to replace it

Other than Super Orbit I can't remember the last time I played any of mine at home... Only time I really play is while I'm at PBR 🥴 You'll get back into it, life happens man.

Only being in pinball since April this year I’ve often wondered if and when I may loose interest. I’m definitely not like I was in the first month or two where my every spare minute was spent playing. Now I like to sit in there and watch movies or sports and kind of jump on and off for the odd game. But I’ll feel guilty if I don’t play them enough. I’ve also found that I’m maybe a better player than I was in the early days but I’m scoring a lot lower than I’ve ever done now. I’ve no explanation for this. But I’ll keep plugging away.

I hope your mojo returns and you can get back into it. I certainly would wait longer if this happened to me

I can't say I've ever completely lost interest, worst I've been through is maybe a week or 2 without playing cos I've got into a new Xbox game. What I can say is going to any comp or social pinball event ( like Daventry or our European pinball museum trips ) always boosts my interest ( not that it ever wanes that much ).

If you just fancy a few friendly games nowt competitive and a natter give me a shout and I'll come over. 👍

These things happen, they often come back after a while.
I know I started losing interest with the video games that I just no longer would be able to play with others, it's hard without motivation or competition.

I've been there for a while - a handful of couple of games on Tron and that's about it for most of the year.

Think we all need to rotate/refresh our games more often, I've got a collectors mentality without the budget or space to collect! But I'm also fortunate enough to own a few nice games and have a space for them. It's hard when they're so expensive to just impulsively flip out and buy similar in, you can end up losing thousands of pounds if you're not careful. I really want a TNA, but I don't believe it's worth a Metallica Premium + £2k, so I need to have restraint and wait a few years.

Suggestion box - Loan me your Godzilla for a while, that way you might start wanting it back again :)
