i went to collect my Shadow today from the lockup, so i could take pics and list it for sale, and enjoy it again at home before it gets bought.

i was just heaving it into the back of my car, when a French bloke pulled up alongside and told me he had just put down the phone after calling 999 and telling the police he was watching someone with a firearm. he said he was watching me holding a gun and grunting into a vehicle, as if i was attacking someone with it. luckily at the last minute, he also noticed the huge pinball machine attached to the gun, and told them not to scramble their SWAT team.

so when i got home, i recreated the scene for my own enjoyment. in my version, the cops showed up, horns and flashing lights everywhere. Freeze!, they shouted, pointing weapons at me. then all the fit bird cops started undressing and wanting to play pinball with me .......

/sigh

Wait.... are you serious..... someone thought a pinball machine was a firearm?

Can't tell if this is a true story or just an excuse to post boobs? :)

the story is all true

I remember walking through East Croydon railway station a couple of years ago after picking up a set of pinball legs that were wrapped up in a black bin bag. I kept wondering why I was getting worried looks. Afterwards I realised that they thought I might be carrying a firearm....

Looking back, it's amazing nobody called the police and I found an unfriendly armed response team waiting for me back in London!

As I said after the event, when the police are responding to an armed maniac response, that is not the time to ask them to pose for pictures. To be honest, your recreation is much better.

Lmao...

An ex G/F of a friend shot a burger king employee from his car with a cheapo very weak plastic BB gun. They pulled up to eat their food after the 'shooting' and were then set upon by lots of police brandishing sub machine guns. The girl was dragged from the car by her hair and almost ended up with a 2 year jail sentence. Luckily for her she just got a suspended one with a large amount of community service

Lol brilliant , good job you wernt moving the next gen, the police would have had to have passed the case on to the men in black " hello police , some guy with what only can be described as a phaser riffle, send help"

Ha ha stanly, like I have said a million times, it's all about selling the older games, if you sold your Afm and IJ you could buy two new machines... I sold all my old games to fund my stern addiction... Work out what your games owe you sell to the new blood that want the trophy games and BOOM!!! A new shiny in box stern can be yours ;)
Come on mate we to long in the tooth to get sentimental about games now, how many league meets can you go to or shows and see AFM?? MM?? MB?? TOM?? IJ?? Yaaaaaaaawn been there done that ...... Bring on the new stuff :)

yes Chen, I would sell the AFM. but the IJ never, it was produced at the zenith of pinball design and construction. not so much the wpc - 95 stuff as they were built on the cheap. most of the recent Sterns are also built on the cheap, compare TSPP to Avengers even the LE. one level of wireforms and that's it . although AC/DC is spot on, there is not another Stern in recent times that I would sell the AFM for. just sayin':D

I agree chentendo, however I have to say that the new ones just do it for me now... Don't know why? They just seem so fresh and cool, I hated TSPP despise it in fact, and a lot of older sterns I couldn't care for, I just seems that in my view the new ones are awesome... Can't comment on avengers only played it briefly didn't like the look of it, however xmen is just phenomenal maybe it's the art the theme I don't know all I know is I love it Metallica looks beautiful and AC/DC well enough said about that bad boy, it'd pinball perfection

Not many!! I seem to remember people complaining at shows that they want to play the AFM/MM etc and that it was only in the tournament...

Everyone wants to play the expensive ones to see what the fuss is about...

People to protective of their "investments" easy to forget they are machines manufactured to be played and played hard

The TSPP that you had ( That i bought a half share in) was fooked. once I rebuilt everything it played Great, hey even Bowen said so at IFPA 9. the Mystery spot mode is still the best mode(IMHO) in ANY machine, coolness personified in its simplicity, by reversing the flipper buttons, so you have to play it with your arms folded. so if you go along with the fact they should be played and played hard. I expect to see one of your 'bad boys' at Swavesey.. or not :) BOOM!
