Hi,

I’m after a bit of advice please, if anyone could assist that would be great. My son and I have just renovated a Hurricane which has been a great first project for us! Sadly, I do need to sell it to recoup costs (it went way over budget) Firstly, I’m not sure how much a renovated Hurricane would sell for?.. I did see one on eBay a year or so ago, for I think £7000 .. which seemed a crazy price to me. I would love to maximise sell price to recoup costs and wondering if I put it up for sale on eBay I could perhaps be cheeky and ask £4500 for it? is this a realistic or crazy price?! Any advice appreciated.

Many thanks
Dave

I can say with certainty that a Hurricane has never sold for £7000, not even that new in box one that crazy guy was selling a few years ago.

It's a £1750 - £2250 game, depending on condition.

I've seen at least 4 sell this year in that price range. (including one I bought)

Sold mine here in 2021 for £1300 - which was probably too cheap as I'd swapped playfield, replaced plastics, fitted anti squeal etc.. but some time back. Personally think 2k would be max...
Only my 2 pennyworth tho..
Glws - a fun game.

There are games been sitting on eBay for crazy prices for Years,I think the Mohammed Ali ones been on for 5 years and there’s a beat time one been there for a good 2 years, depends how fast you want to sell. Price depends on your restore quality, have a look at the Bally Star Trek on eBay , which may look a lot better than it used to but is never going to win any awards, or sell at that price.

Hi Dave,
We have sold 5 hurricanes over the years (one may of been part ex’ed a few times.
One had a restored and cleared p/f n new cab decals + chrome metal work.). Prices were as follows. All were fully working with topper.
£2.3k. (Mint one) £1.7k. £1.6k. £1.9k and £1.85k.
Hopefully of some help. Agree its a class lv game but I actually enjoy it, as when the ball goes in the ferris wheel it enables me to sip on a good whiskey 🥃 with plenty of time to savour the taste.

All the best. keef……👊🏼

There was one up for bids on ebay in October and it finished at £1909. That was in nice condition. Hopefully this link works so you can compare pics and gauge whether the condition is better/worse than yours.

Thank you everyone for all the feedback… Oh dear, looks like I’ll be selling at a loss! But hey, really enjoyed the renovation…and a few lessons learned. I’ll probably do as suggested in one post and put up on eBay for an over market value with offers and see what happens. I will post some pics and vids soon. Once again thank you everyone, really appreciated.

Many thanks
Dave

With pinballs you have to be very careful what money you spend when dealing with lower rated titles. It costs the same in time and money to refurb a Hurricane as it does an Addams yet the latter is a much better bet if you want to recoup your outgoings.

Nothings really selling on eBay at the moment either. Dirt cheap prices on less popular games at the moment.

That’s 3 machines out of like 100 listed!

Really surprised at the Batman price though!!
That’s just the listing price- it had best offer available- seen it on my own listings where I’ve taken an offer but the listing shows as sold with original price showing.

Pretty much most games if you restore them to a high standard you will loose some money, it's more a labour of love than a sound plan. The labour alone eats into any sort of profit. It's possible but you really have to know what to fix and what to leave and whether you have the contacts or luck to get one super cheap. I've lost a fair bit restoring games, however I don't look at it as a loss, I've had a lot of fun and machines I've had have gone out better than they came in. There far worse hobbies for wasting money for example if had taken up golf as a hobby I might as well have 💩 money, club fees, equipment, cost to play etc.
Take the positive you got to do something with a family member, perhaps learnt a skill, pinballs can be difficult, move on the next one

Yep, you raise some really valid points and I do agree… it’s a great hobby and working along side my 15 year old son is priceless. I’ve just picked up a Radical so looking forward to our next project!
