How many pins can you play in a year ?

Thanks for posting my link here on pinballinfo.com
I added this website to my blog as a pinball resource. I've never been to this site and I've been checking it out and it has a lot of great information.

I'm shooting for 1,000 games but I don't know if it's feasible. It's unbelievable how many machines I've played that were in such bad shape, it's not really fair to count them because I really have no idea how they play.

I think it'll take a lot of help from personal collectors and me going to their houses. All my vacation days this year are dealing with pinball shows and I'm taking a road trip up and down the east coast (south in June) (north in August) to hit all of the different pin places.

I then made my way over to one of my favorite games of all time. Theatre of Magic might be the best original themed pinball machine ever made (I go back and forth with this and Monster Bash all of the time). Everything about this game is smashing. Great theme, beautiful artwork, impressive audio and stupendous playfield layout and game play. The game is fast and smooth, and the scoring is well balanced. Grand finale not easy to get to and harder to beat. There is nothing bad I can say about this machine.

I'm trying for 1,000 machines, but I think that might be wishful thinking. I'm finding a lot of the machines are in pretty horrible shape and I consider them unplayable because if they don't play right, it's really hard to judge how good they are. (I've played 5 TAFs and none of them played right).

All my vacation days are going to be spent going to pinball shows and I'm going up and down the east coast (down south in june, up north in august). I think I will have to rely on the private collectors and going to their bashes etc...

I appreciate all of the support.

Welcome to the forum, where in the US are you based? Are there many pins on route near you or are most of your games going to be played at shows?

I'm in NJ so I'm close to a lot of machines on route.

I saw the pins you have and I have a shadow and a fish tales and love them both very much. Nice collection.

So the Pinball Ninja did 500 repairs in a year and you are going for playing 1000 machines in a year.
Good luck in your quest and welcome to the forum.
Hope you will be doing updates on your quest so we can see how you are getting on.

This has inspired me to keep a list of the machines I've played this year. Each time I play some new machines I'm going to update this post.

Fish Tales
Star Trek the Next Generation
Twilight Zone
Batman Forever
Independence Day
Demolition Man
Wizard of Oz
Avengers
Pirates of the Caribbean
Spider-Man (Black)
WWF
Dr. Dude
NBA Fastbreak
Red & Ted's Road Show
White Water
No Good Gophers

Not bad for now.

Looks like a great list of pins there. My girlfriend is doing the big year for bird watching which is a real thing that bird watchers do so I thought I'd do it for pinball. It making me play a bunch of game that I might have not played because I would just play whitewater or road show all night. Also, it having me look for different games that I haven't played that I've always wanted to, like I just played Big Bang bar for the 1st time and I really enjoyed it. Up to 102 games, and hopefully more this weekend. I will keep everyone updated.

i read and enjoyed the article at the end of that link, nice work dude. i lie the way you come at each new machine with a fresh attitude and perspective, and seem to give them all, even the old and uninspiring ones, a proper write up

i'm sure there's other bits and pieces, but one thing you wrote that i remember reading and nodding my head to was about that stupid QR barcode thingy on the backglass.

those poxy things

Sorry too busy playing to make a note of how many pins played in the year...! :biggrin1:

However in the last 5 years since starting competitive pinball - the pinball rankings for me now states: This player has played in tournaments events with 1785 (10.3%) other players...!!! That's a lot of games on a lot of different machines...!!!

:jaw:

Its crazy to see those things. I remember when backglasses were pieces of artwork (space invaders, spectrum, xenon). Now it's photoshop with advertisements.

Thanks for taking the time check out blog. I see that this sites users are mostly from the UK...what is the pinball culture like there? I hear that pinball is very popular in Europe. I have a bunch of reimported machines.
