Ok so stay with me, with the recent rise in price on some titles and more people in the hobby I’m getting worried about sending money via bank transfer like I used to and just praying Martin brings something that resembled the photos like the good old days. Are people just rocking up with 4-5-6k ? And as the Americans say slapping the cash on the glass? Tbh unless I’ve bought from someone before I’m really not sure I can buy anything at the moment ... what’s peoples thoughts ?

Do your research, ask around, ask Martin if he’s been to that address before etc...

Yeah I do i ask around even sometime call the seller and sometime they offer referent which is helpful, i get positive and negative feedback but like martin says the deal is between the buyer and the seller he simply delivers. im not really asking just for me and i personally have not had and bad experiences its more to see what ways people go about it.

I ask for more photos if there’s only a few. Ask for any negative info at all as well as any mods etc. I look through the sellers old threads - get a vibe if he’s known and trusted. I then also look on Facebook, just to confirm they are who they say they are - you often then see mutual friends (pinheads).
Once I’m happy I throw caution to the wind and do a bank transfer.
Safest is to view & collect yourself which I’ve also done. Either way I’ve had no dramas yet.

Cash on collection wherever possible for me  Unless I know you then bank transfer is ok. I have transferred money to people I don't know before including people in other countries but not sure I'd be as keen these days, especially as the price of games has increased so much.

That’s what I mean 1500 for a game bank transfer ok 4500 sheesh that’s slot to send to a internet person

I've only bought a couple, yet I'm more comfortable spending 4000 - 5000 via bank transfer here on the forum since games at that price are typically HUO and seldom have anything wrong with them. Extensive pictures and a zoom/video of gameplay would suffice.

I don't trust anyone with a 2k machine unless I know them. 2k on collection after I've climbed inside of it and worn it for an hour.

Whenever possible, I hire a van and collect myself and pay bank transfer there and then. The safest way too I think.

However, I have bought 3 pins blind from photos. Two were from people I already knew to some degree, so felt comfortable paying sight unseen (other than their photos), and one on here during lockdown last spring. On that occasion it was emails, lengthy phone calls, photos and forum search; to check I was comfortable before paying.

If not for lockdowns etc oftentimes I'd collect. I quite enjoy a day out in the van, bring a friend, always good fun. More recently bought Deadpool (Martin delivering tomorrow) and I just asked on here about the seller. It's definitely getting increasingly tricky as the Sums of cash have shot up exponentially and there are more and more new people on the scene.

Have bought 5 games off here (£1.5k - £4.5k via BACS), all from photos only and delivered by Martin.

To start with, I was a little nervous waiting for delivery, but all have turned up fine and as described - sometimes you've just got to trust people. I wouldn't be so trusting on eBay, Facebook, etc.

Anyone struggle with bank transfers there n then some say you can get there and bank transfer but say it’s a Sunday and the bank flags the transaction of 5 k ? Can that happen

Yeah the transaction can definitely be put on hold by the bank, but you should be able to get it released by the anti-fraud team on the phone.

Yes, this happened to me. Bank held the payment and phoned me within 15-20mins to verify I was transferring money and not getting scammed etc. Once I said I was stood with the machine in the sellers house and it was all arranged before getting there, they were satisfied and released the money.

Fair enough I think that approach would be the most sensible nowerdays, anyone had any sketchy situations? I heard a chap said someone gave the money to his wife who took it next door then came back and demand more as the buyer was short tho he stated he was correct .. seems abit rum.

Only used ebay three times, 1st & 2nd pins, they weren't great purchases, 3rd time collected in person a fantastic AFM for cash.

Otherwise all off the forum or nib

This happened to me.

Buyer came and looked it over. Did a £1 transfer to check account details correct, but then when he did the full transfer it got held by his bank.

Was out of hours so, the choice was to mess about and sort it another day or trust the bloke.

He seemed genuine to me, so I helped him load the machine. Money came through the next morning without any problems.

Sometimes you have to remind yourself that there are more genuine people tha there are crooks. And it's a relief when that turns it to be true as well.

This is less necessary now that banks have implemented name checking on transfers, so you should be good in most cases to do the transfer for full amount in one go, less than 10k and will almost always go through as long as you have 2FA of some sort (which most banks/apps now use).

I've hired a van and paid on the spot after having a look at the machine and a couple of games a few times, but TBH not sure I'd have spotted anything that wasn't massively obvious then anyway!

Cash on the glass. My bank has a maximum daily transfer limit of $5K, so I'd have to do two transfers over a period of 2 days for anything over $5K. Last pin I bought was my Creech. $7K in cash on the glass. Of course that $7K CAD so that's only like $500GBP.

Three types of seller:

Nerds
idiots
Liars (pretend to be idiots, but know the game is goosed)

I much prefer to transact with nerds I know on here.

In the past I would buy projects from idiots and liars on eBay and Gumtree but the prices are too high now and the processes too anarchic. I can't be bothered with them. I have never sent money to these types without seeing the game in person first.

I now just wait for the right game from the right seller.
