Hi all,
I’m wanting to add a gold (coloured) lock bar and side rails to my TOM, I already have the legs and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to where to buy from or where to avoid.
The worst thing would be to wait a week or two only to get an inferior quality part.

i'm going to try and find a powder coater near me for a few things. I assume they can go gold (I want them for my TOM too). I'm right on the Surrey, Hampshire and West Sussex border - whereabouts are you?

@Neil McRae : did you ever find a power coaster near us?

I got mine done by a local plater. He did an amazing job. Just need to ask for it to be extra thick for high use. The same as on gold plated taps etc

I’m near Brighton, I was thinking of buying the parts rather than getting them plated.
I’m not sure how the plating works, do you have to send a highly polished part or do they do that for you?
How does powder coating look in gold?

dont buy gold mirror plates from pinballshop.nl.
The ones I got were crap.
i complained and they said the manufacturers reply was this

This is the default finish, gold plated material is very difficult to work with, the slightest touch can leave small marks.

As this material comes in a large sheet, handling to put it on the plasma cutter, take it off, sorting, packing and shipping will always leave some marks behind. The end product can be polished by the end user once it is installed, we suggest you recommend this to your customers.

Exactly the place I was going to get them from. Thanks for the heads up @Vimtoman.

It's proper gold plating rather than powder coating. I have also had wire ramps chrome plated and they looks amazing. Lots of places do it, you just need to find a good one.

This is one near me I used for some wire ramps and they came out nice

Thats pretty good .
I guess putting on and taking off the lockbar is limited.
Scratch the siderails?

Need to know where that was and how much, since i have one very similar thats needs doing, and from what i understand it's quite specialst because of the base metal.

If ok with you will drop you a pm?

Yep these old Jennings casings are a lottery as half the time they fall apart in the acid pickle - the gold is easier than the chrome I’m told - the one below cost me £500 !

Thats relatively cheap compared to some of the prices i have heard about..(£1k)!!
My local platers midland plating wanted £1100 and said they would want £500 up front in case they feel apart during the process ! I’ll get the companies number - like I said to vimtoman a mate who has a lighting company stuck them in for me / all I know is was that they are Wembley area !

I take it that no one has brought a gold lockdown bar or side rails then, it seems that most get them plated themselves.
