I have a 1964 Heat Wave pin. I have just being playing it and the thing that measures the temperature isn’t resetting itself (it’s stuck on tirrid). I don’t know what to do. Shall I just carry on or is it a problem?

What I found with my game, every mechanism had seized with age. All of them needed to be soaked in degreaser, taken apart and cleaned

I had this problem on a heatwave I recently restored for a client. The stepper that resets requires a smaller not obvious spring that creates a tiny a of resistance that keeps the mechanism open for the 1/2 sec it needs to reset the thermometer. In the attached pic you can see it hanging unattached on the right hand side of the red line. It attaches at the left hand side point. If you have some low tension springs see which works. The spring holds the arm back for the extra bit of time it needs to reset

Thank you. I have decided to have Heatwave completely overhauled but thank you for the advice. Louis.
