Hey all!

Had an amazing time at Pinfest this year - a weekend packed with truly amazing machines and even more amazing people. A hearty and personal thank you to every single person that made the event what it was.

Except for one small thing.
Finally managed to start sorting through some of the gopro footage I took over the weekend and was surprised to find some cheeky chappy had gone deliberately out of their way to sabotage some of my cameras! It seems like they were waiting for me to set them up in the main hall and then came and turned them around to face the wall so the footage would be useless!

I've gotta be honest, I'm a bit shocked and upset for a couple of reasons. For one, it sets an awful prescient for people's personal property; not something I expected at a show where historically people have gone out of their way to be respectful and look after other people's stuff. For a second, I was trying to do something nice by creating a memento for the people that have been working these shows and been involved in the scene for decades; to have that deliberately ruined by one person and for no good reason just makes me sad.

I don't recognise him, so I was hoping someone could help me identify the culprit? Have tried asking a few people privately, but no one seems to be sure. One person suggested he might be called Colin? If anyone could advise that'd be really helpful, if only so I know who to avoid next year.

Hope everyone has an amazing year, and can't wait to see you all again :)

This is really sad. I was looking forward to seeing your time lapse footage of setup.
I can only assume the culprit thought they were being recorded in real time with audio.

Or is this thread a joke?😄

Hats off to you mate for not escalating and feeding his desire to be an event horizon.

Paint an orange dot on the front of your cameras next year. We can all check to see if we see a dot, no dot we can turn it back again or tell you. And if we see anyone playing with cameras we can kindly remind them that it could be construed as an attempt at theft... And all that implies.

I recognise that person. “Colin” is about right, as Paul said in the post right above mine, I wouldn’t want to cast aspersions on his character or suggest anything about him. I have a bell that I like to ring sometimes, it has a handle and a metal part, and an end. Colin is not the handle or the metal part. He is loaded though so many people chum up to him and pretend to be his friend so they can play on his awesome collection or in his tournaments.

I find this behaviour you describe to be antisocial and frankly abhorrent. My opinion of Colin has just been confirmed, in spades.

Since we are not permitted to insult people, for fear of offending the offender, can I suggest to @Big Phil the show organiser (I think?) that he consider a consequence, such as banning said individual Neil McRae from next year’s event? Or at least a final warning?

There is no mistaken identity, plus he has admitted it and clearly finds it funny and thinks others will find it amusing too and that he is a loveable scamp rogue. Unfortunately this is not an acceptable thing to do, and he doesn’t have the charisma to carry it off, even if it was 🤷‍♂️

@Paul, you have known me 12 years and know I call a spade a spade. Well if I can’t call a tw@ a tw@ can I at least try my best to publicly label him?

@whoever it was I shouted at for saying I was like him, hopefully you can see now why I reacted as I did. I am a clown but not an antisocial one.

Surely the OP of this thread, with a history of 2 posts, is Neil, on the wind up?!?

I think this is all a misunderstanding and there *might* just be a plausible explanation...and I don't have all the facts as to what really happened.

I'm surprised the joke has managed to pass so many people by. Fligg knew about the camera within a short time of it being turned. Which was done in jest because the camera was perched on the glass of a PBR game. No one was hurt in the incident although I hear some ducks did end up in custody!

Well if people weren’t there or aren’t in with the ‘in crowd’ why would they get the so called joke ?

The whole thing is very odd . But then pinball people are 😀
