Hi all,

Whilst i would love a @myPinballs replacement, budget doesnt stretch that far for a lowly Forum Admin, so looking for a working Gottleib/Premier System 80 MPU if anyone has one available for sale?.

Just ripped the one out of my Nightmoves, and i think the amount of corrosion caused by the rather foobarred battery still mounted on-board may well be the cause of the non-booting issues. I can clean the board up best i can, however not sure that it will ever work again such is the state of it :(

Cheers
Paul

Not necessarily you can bin a shed load of components and they are normally in the corrosion area and replace with just a few links and a Dallas chip. Will dig out info

Cheers matey - Much appreciated.

Have given it a bit of a clean up and removed the old battery, and am left with this (which doesnt actually seem too bad.... however i'm not sure how the old Tracks hold up to the corrosion ( I know on some previous stuff i have worked on from old Fruit machines the tracks arent too bad on those... is down to the manufacturers...)

This is what i'm currently left with...

Certainly looks do-able... Some Ferric chloride and then fire over with some Sodium Bicarb to neutralise... will see what it comes out like :D

That looks well salvageable.

It's alkaline battery so surely you'll need white vinegar?

Fairly typical for a Gott. Looks like you need to take off, socket and replace the 6502 and the 7400 (Z14) plus the components under Z14. Using the Dallas help make life a lot easier.

Also check and reflow the daughter board - in fact I'd just go for the GPE replacement as discussed in the pinwiki article.

you also need to work through the battery corrosion repair stages, meaning get the old components off the board, sand back the traces to remove corrosion, wash 50% water 50% white vinegar IPA and dry before adding the dallas and memory cap:
