Hi all,

But if a dilemma here, self inflicted of course,

I bought a Williams flintstone machine about 12 months ago, stripped top of the playfield down cleaned most of it, and it’s all now in cardboard boxes ready for me to put it back together, it needs a few parts like a pop bumper, new bulbs, a board fix and rubbers, nothing too major.

Well, fast forward a few months and I am now smack bang in the middle of a major house renovation, as in full house bare brick, no ceilings etc etc…
I have a garage to store the machine in but it’s damp, so don’t want to put it in there. The garage is also planned to be knocking down and moved for an extension.

Would you recommend hiring a storage container, for what could be 12 months or longer, selling the machine as is, or sending it off to someone to complete (I’m in Shropshire if you could recommend anyone?

Thanks

I'd store it wherever you can that's not damp.
Selling it as is is a risk for a buyer as you might have misplaced some key, unobtanium parts. But if it's going cheap...........

I wonder if there is anybody local to you who has the space and is willing to store it for you for a small fee?

Storage containers can suffer from condensation and that is an absolute killer for pinball machines. Every piece of metal could end up corroded if you are unlucky and remedying that is an absolute nightmare.

If you put it into storage, do you think you would ever retrieve it and rebuild ?

I would be wary of buying a dismantled game unless I had an identical title already that I could use as a set of instructions to rebuild from. You'd probably receive a low price if you sold it as is.

Personally, I'd try to find somebody known on here that is willing to fix her up for ££££ and or an extended loan period.

Some guys like to fix 'em up and move 'em on.

There are plenty of teardown pics on pinside that will help in rebuilding. Not a great issue to rebuild without full instructions these days.

Hi all,

Thanks, I took lots and lots of photos from each stage of the tear down, everything was stored and is stored safely, so nothing has got lost.

I like a long term to loan option, it’s out my hair, someone gets to play around with it, and it’s actually used!
