Florida seems dominated by interstates, theme parks, long stretches of motels/ lawyers' offices/ drive thru chains/ shopping malls etc. It is very much a car culture.

I visited Gainesville to get some normality - ie away from coast, walk to cafes/ bars, hotel in the centre (as opposed to a cluster of motels near the freeway).

This place has 2x arcades. I tried

https://braggingrights.com USD 26 flat fee to get in

With 130ish video games and 60ish pinballs, it looks well invested - but sadly the maintenance is not up to snuff. I didn't stay long, but most of the stuff I tried was faulty

Banzai - fully working
Earthshaker - missing ball so would not start
Fire - very slow
Tommy - spring too weak for skillshot
New Guns and Roses - dirty and slow
Phantom - trough problems
Safe cracker - weak kicker on left, but OK
AG Soccer Ball - good
DE Turtles - sewer lid kickout failed a lot

The video games were also tired

Tron upright - screen was scrolling left to right
3x shooting games weren't properly sighted in
Discs of Tron - brilliant, with awesome sound

The US classics I really wanted to try were dead
Pitch and Bat - no ball to hit
Shuffle bowling alley - switched off

So I'd say it is worth a trip if you are in the area or would like to cross some relatively rare games off your list.20230524_185536.jpg20230524_190520.jpg20230524_190526.jpg20230524_190531.jpg20230524_190546.jpg20230524_190550.jpg20230524_190632.jpg
