I’m intrigued to know peoples answer to this question

What’s the pinball machine that you really did not get on with/ enjoy, when you first played it. But after time, and a few more games, you actually grew to love it.

For me it’s twilight zone
Back in the 90s, I found it boring, and it just didn’t excite me.
Played it again a couple of years ago at flip out, and I felt the same.

But I’ve been playing it regularly at the pinball office, and I love it now.
Don’t know if it’s because I’m a better player now, so can hit the shots. But it’s definitely won me over.

I bought my Tron Le nib and it really frustrated me for weeks one day I just turned it off and didn’t re discover it for months but when I did approached it with a more relaxed attitude and loved it ever since
Tmnt le was the same it was actually that bad I would turn the game off half way through and it never got any better hence I sold it pretty quickly probably played less than 50 games on that

JP2 pro, went to Chief coffee all excited, was ao disappointed I left credits on there and fell in love with Stranger Things instead. Tried again with one at home and now in love. Still can't hit anything when I want to and barely scratched the surface of the game but at least it makes sense now!

Dr who is another one for me, with theme being a big part of being drawn to a machine. Ive never had any interest In the tv series, even as a kid. So I never played the pinball machine until recently, and got a real surprise. Yes it’s simple, but lots of bloody fun !

Mine is Star Wars! I first played the LE under Southend Pier and I hated it! Literally I was just so disappointed with what Stern had done with it. Played it a second time and thought it was OK and it just went on improving from there.

I have an LE and it’s my favourite pinball!

Slightly different with one for me. Sopranos - I've had no interest in the TV show, and when I saw the cabinet art, and back glass I thought it looked awful, so it put me off having a go on one.
But a few years ago I had a go on one at pinfest when all the other pins I wanted to try out were occupied, and I absolutely loved the game play. I still hate the cabinet and backglass, but would probably pick one up for the right price

I guess it's Whitewater for me - didn't like it because of the way the playfield is covered (much the same reason I'm not keen on Creech), for some reason, over the years it has grown on me, probably as I've got a bit better & know what's going on - same hasn't happened for Creech though.

CFTBL for me, I owned 3 swore I would never had another (stupid 2 ball multiball and lovely massive ramp that hardly gets used) but ended up with one because a mate "forced" it on me. It sat there unloved but then I played a few games and for some reason it just clicked, 10 years later its still here 🥰

However, the same thing has not happened with Roadshow, never having another, honistly 😂

TAF for me, always had a few games when visiting a friend but preferred his other games. Now I’ve started to become a better player it’s my second favourite when visiting.

I’ve played a few games on location that I thought were awful TZ TSPP Creach but in private collections are brilliant.

BSD fore sure. I used to work for a games developer in Stockholm who hired in 2 or 3 machines every month on rotation. BSD came in and I was just shocked by how unforgiving it was. Ball times were measured in seconds. I loved the gothic creepiness of it though and decided to give it another chance when I was offered one. Now it's the only machine I need and the only one that will never leave.

TWD LE, absolute punisher of a game. Until you understand what you need to do and have played it over and over you will not realise what a great game it is.
Took a couple of years of playing on and off but now really enjoying it. Had to rewatch the very long tutorial a few times but got there in the end🤯

Roadshow, believe it or not 😂
Hated it.

Whitewater I also disliked till only recently, too cluttered, felt unfair and not as good as everyone makes out. I suppose all the ones i'd played had been set up badly or had issues so left me disliking it more. Then I played the one at Pinball Office and it just felt FUN.

I still dislike TZ :)

Almost exactly the same.

Tried JP at Chief and was underwhelmed. It was also my first time playing AFM and there was really no contest.

Then I went to Neil's one night to try some games and came away wanting JP and Elvira.

Much like yourself I only scratch the surface but it's such a great game.

I feel like I'm on Masterchef with the ability to cook beans on toast but I keep going back for more.

I can only imagine how enjoyable it must be for decent players.

Used to absolutely detest Rollergames. Everyone said it was like Marmite, you either love it or hate it and I hated it. Turned down a beater project that worked because I didn't like it so much.

Now I play one whenever I see it on location and hum the tune. If I had taken the project one it would have been long gone by now but I wish I had!

Fish Tales.

When it came out it was alongside TAF and the sounds/ theme/ modes/ 4 flippers/ toys/ art of TAF just blew it away.

Then I bought a FT in need of some TLC as a short term hold. Once I understood the rules, I fell in love with it. My most played machine. I then bought a second one and made a beauty out of two good ones.

You should never underestimate a machine until you fully understand the rules ....

Flash Gordon.

Read it was super-hard (which I like), but my expectations were too high, so I was disappointed with my first plays on the one at Pinball Republic.

Played it again for 20 minutes at Pinball Republic and decided I kinda liked it.

Bought one. Played it at home. Love it.

Got to say, I played Star Wars Pro on Brighton Pier a couple of weeks ago, having never played one before, and absolutely loved it. However, this was love on first play - so, slightly off topic :)

Your tron le came to me for a while on loan if I remember it kicked my butt for a while it became bit of a gate but then after a few good games I loved it and still do,cracking game!

Likewise!
It took me a while to warm to BSD. But now I love it and I think it’s probably my favourite game to be honest.
