Ok, so to those that werent aware, The software for my programmer doesnt work properly under Win10, and therefore Rom burning is hit and miss.

So - Is this a service that i should continue to offer??

Costs are still the same as they were when it started - £5 per chip, plus £1 shipping (Covers up to around a dozen chips within the UK).

Vote above :)

Not really a fault of Microsoft or Windows 10, just poor support from the manufacturer of the programmer. I roll this stuff out for a living and to be honest theres very little that doesn't work on Windows 10 that does in 7 or 8.

Paul, it's a great service. There's nothing wrong with making a profit from burning ROMS, go for it:thumbs:

OOh no - Many thanks John, however let me make something clear :)

I do NOT make a profit on this service. In fact, the intricacies are that i purchase the Roms out of my own pocket (well, i did last time i made a bulk purchase of them!), and any payments/donations received as part of the service go directly into the coffers of this place (Part of the reason i have just been able to pay for the next year's Hosting - all thanks to you guys !!).

All i want to be able to do is cover costs, which i have been able to do over the last years of doing this :)

It's a valuable service buddy, please keep doing it and put your prices up. Seems the poll results are almost unanimous in that regard too.

Paul,

If your existing burner is decent enough I can sort out a pc for you so you can continue to use it.

I can ship you over a base unit with win 7 or whatever on it? I have used your burning service before and will again, it's much appreciated.

Alternatively we could start a fund to buy a replacement

Many thanks Ian - I have access to a machine that i _can_ use, however i'll be honest and say that i'm not sure if the issues are with the programmer or the software. So best start again :)

Anyhow, many thanks to all - have taken the plunge and ordered a new one to arrive later in the week :)

Fingers crossed will be back up and running by the weekend (which will be good as i have two people waiting for rom upgrades :) )

Thanks for all the support and advice guys :)

I bought a GQ-4X about a year or so ago and have been really pleased with it. The software is easy to use and seems rock solid, I've never had a bum rom out of it yet. The only bad thing is the 64bit driver for it wasn't signed but that may have been resolved now, a minor detail in the scheme of things. I get the feeling it will be supported for a while to come so hopefully won't need to run it on a old box for a while.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for the service you provide....in the past, in the present and in the future.
The service you and other talented people of this group provide make this forum invaluable for owners of pinball machines which would otherwise have been skipped.
