Absolutely top notch, but a few things to remember.

1: They'll only sell you something that is not available in the UK. For example selling a Turtles when one is available over here will breach their distribution agreement. I tried to get a NIB Deadpool over here and it wasn't available until December so I got it from Freddys.

2. You'll have to pay for delivery which ain't cheap but it is surprisingly quick.

3. The exchange rate is not favourable at present. I got my DP a little over a month ago, if I did it now it would be £400 more expensive.

They're a good company though and the lady on the phone (Anita I think) speaks excellent English.

Give them a call and Good luck.

Why does it work out cheaper ordering them from the continent compared to distributors over here?

Is the euro stronger to the dollar compared to the pound?

can be several factors, electrocoin sticking their % on, exchange rate, distrib supply deals, overhead, profit margin...

I thought pinball heaven were the licensed distributor for the UK ?

Hows electocoin fit into all this then ?

There are a few things I should point out before you run off to europe.
PH usually offer a 2 year warranty, you won't be getting this. If (when) your node board craps out, are you prepared to pay £250 for a new one?
There is shipping to factor in, PH usually are pretty good to me on this
When you bank transfer the money, your bank may charge and it can be a significant amount
The shipper is just a carrier, PH use Hardinge who are used to moving these. Bit of a crap shoot really.

I'd still say that for any machine (but particularly non Stern) you should first enquire at PH. I have a Hot Wheels on order with them and they couldn't be beat on price.

To be fair Sven is right I hadn't thought about the 2 year warranty thing ...however let's not forget with the huge saving I can buy 5 faulty node boards replacements ! Just saying ha ha it's personal choice I respect people like to buy local and I would if price was in line with Freddy's but I'm not being no sucker for no one .

However I will contact electrocoin thanks Sven probably lowest price there

Where are you drawing your exchange rate from?

I think electrocoin will insist you go via ph their UK distributor, who I think gets slammed on import tax which he has to obvs pass on to the consumer. I guess the rest of Europe avoid this tax.

Argh of course we can't go direct to electro ....not a prob il go to me mate Freddy I refuse to get slammed on price ...couple of hundred quid fine not 1500 like

Just seems to be the consumer that gets screwed over in all this.

What do electocoin offer the consumer in this deal ? They just take a cut and make it harder for PH to compete from what I see.

maybe there will be one positive from Brexit after all. I’m writing to Lord Frost to make sure they secure us a free trade deal with the states on pinball at all cost.

I will even eat their moody chicken in return

electrocoin take a swipe on the games on the way in thats why we're paying about a grand more... I've personally moaned at Gary Stern and their sales director about it but they won't do anything.

Cheers,
Neil.

freedies are great for parts not bought a game from them.

Germany also has 16% VAT at the moment owing to cronavirus.

it makes a mockery of the EU when prices vary so much country to country. different tax laws and vat rates, you’d have thought in over 50 years they’d have nailed all that down to a common set of rules rant rant rant

The price on Phil’s site is not the price to forum members (who he possibly assumes are not your average pinball idiot). It’s not going to be £1500 cheaper, but you’re free to ask what the price is to you and it might close the gap a bit for 2yrs price of mind based on Sterns recent track record of quality. TMNT can have the blurry playfield art too.

Not entirely accurate:-
- I negotiated a two year parts warranty with PU included in price. They would only ship faulty part - I would install.
- I negotiated free shipping
- The carrier network is extremely efficient. They use Europa Worldwide and it’s all fully covered right down to the wire by the vendor.
Bank Transfer when done via Online Banking - the exchange rate is the rate you pay with no hidden cost. Obviously the bank are taking their commission by offering you a rate poorer than the base market rate but that’s the way all banks operate unless you buy a forward deal. It’s covered with the exchange at time of online transaction which changes dynamically
The only way you will incur an additional transaction charge is if you actually walk into the bank to make the transfer as this is manual intervention.

Having said the above, I will still continue to use PH. I only went to Europe as PH didn’t have the pins I wanted available 👍

As others have stated Electrocoin the Distro who then provide the Stern pins to the vendors. This isn’t just PH but also HLD, Liberty Games etc....

Has anyone ever been to Freddy’s in person? I’ve got some relatives who live 15 mins away so want to call by there this summer- pinball map and website show they’ve got an impressive collection of games. I’m guessing you can just turn up and play if open to the general public?

I’m pretty sure they only open at certain times - call them ahead of time. Freddie’s one of the best guys I’ve dealt with.

Will do- nice part of Germany to visit so was already looking forward to going back- bit of a bonus realising there’s somewhere so near with a hoard of pins
