Hello again! Now that I've spotted your other VECTOR post I'm checking out your other stuff!

On my regulator boards I went for these from CPC, 50p each:

BOURNS 3309P-1-203 TRIMMER, 20K, 9MM

Not quite an exact match but these crappy little trimmers have a ±25% tolerance anyway. I've also read in various places it's best to set the voltage under the stated +190VDC as it can extend the lifespan of the displays, so not having quite the full upper range doesn't make any difference. Go for something around +170VDC. Basically, work your way upwards till the displays are bright enough for your environment. Any higher voltage is just wasted.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL! Use a plastic trimmer tool or plastic handled screwdriver when adjusting. You really don't want to touch 190V. And give it a couple of minutes to dissipate even after switching the machine off. C26 is one big fat capacitor!

many thanks for taking time to check
i went for rs components Stock no.: 787-0550 perfect, the other one
no.: 743-2454 was slightly bigger so now got a spare .
i've now set it to 170 vdc and now a big:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap: yippee
it goes into attract mode
bad news 3 coils you could cook eggs on so now looking for some coils/solenoids
and one display not working. swopped over with one of the other displays
and still not working quick inspection looks like a diode is :( naff hopefully

Same display not working in different location? Definitely faulty display if so. Could be several things. Good pointers on this guide:

Pretty much everything I know about fixing Bally electronics came from this guide!

Don't instantly assume you need replacement coils. Yes you may need to replace if totally cooked but you need to find out why before you starting frying more brand new coils at £10 each!

By the way, what's the history on this VECTOR? Was it a dead project when you got it? Is it your first project pin? Just curious ;)

yes first project
got 2 projects flash and vector also high speed thats in prague at moment that works
son said will bring over when he drives over
yeh right! also got carioca beach bingo pinball
vector sort of half worked with a good headwind
my solenoid thread has a pic of the coil that you could fry eggs on.
cut daisy chain to 2 coils that got hot to quick to take them out of the way
daisy chain still connected, and it all lit up and went into attract mode :clap::clap:
now got to check hot coils :) all good fun;)
