Without trying to re-kindle to recent arguments and the throwing of insults to and fro regarding certain foreign adverts. It would be good to get feedback on anyone visiting/ purchasing the aforementioned machines indeed any foreign pin purchases. The feedback should at least a) silence one or other of he rowing factions b) if genuine, give the people concerned, some useful positive selling feedback that will help other people in the future. The only problem I can see is that if there were problems, the potential buyers may not want to admit they have been scammed. It is just a thought. Maybe an eBay type feedback system on this site would be of benefit so people knew fact not Bulls--t! about sellers and buyers.

I've bought the following from outside the UK:

1: Monster Bash
2: Quicksilver

no problems.

Neil.

A 'Trusted trader' mark in the profile (or similar) should suffice for those of us who have dealt with each other more than a few times. As for buying abroad, don't ever bother unless you are going there, personally. Too much scope to be scammed otherwise. Cash in hand at the door will always be the best way to buy. Although if I was stupidly rich and lazy, I'd probably chuck money around the globe like it was going out of fashion. Do as thy wilt.

the problem with feedback is that its only as good as the last sale...
Agreed but it builds a picture. If someone has sold 50+ machines all good then the chances are the next one will be equally the same is true if someone sells rubbish, it should be a warning sign to steer clear

Do your home work build a relationship bacs the money nothing is ever certain in life if you are worried about losing your money then don’t do sometimes you have to take a risk just bacs 13k today to someone oversees I have never met before
Yes but passing on you good experiences help others. eg: would you buy from an eBayer with terrible feeback?

I honestly don't think a seller feedback rating system is needed on here. There isn't the traffic to justify it for a start - a few pins a week at most for sale , usually from long standing members.

People need to also trust their own judgement and take responsibility for the purchase.

We all have different views on 'condition' etc, and photos can only go some way to showing the true condition of a machine... See a game in person if you aren't comfortable buying remotely.

If you are the paranoid, worrying type then buying sight unseen isn't for you.

And if you are the anal type who frets over the tiniest bit of wear on a game then for the sellers sanity please see it in person [emoji16]

It was just a thought after the various things that that have been said about some sellers advertising on this site. nothing more!

I bought a TAF from Italy, arrived in the condition it was sold to me as.
A friend bought a Funhouse from a guy in the UK (not from here, via eBay), turned out to be a bit of a lemon with water damage and some hacks. He wasn't experienced enough to spot this, so ultimately lost money when he got rid of it.

What does the above prove? Nothing really. There are honest sellers in the UK and abroad. There are dishonest sellers in the UK and abroad.

Oh and +1 moving to General Discussion.

I've bought 8 or so from those guys in Italy with the warehouse full of pins back when our ££ wern't being p1ssed on by the Euro. Also their prices were alot fairer then than they are now. It was a gamble but I asked for extra pics and videos of each pin, I assumed there'd be issues unmentioned which might need addressing and by lowering my expectations I turned out to be pleasantly surprised when they arrived!

+1 on the 'Trusted Trader' profile badge or similar.
Whilst not a silver bullet, I think it would add a very valuable part of the jigsaw when trading with someone. It wouldn't replace due diligence on the machine, but it could help build confidence in a seller's descriptive/packaging superpowers or a buyer's reliability.
I respectfully disagree with the moderator's comment that the amount of traffic doesn't warrant this feature. I'm a very infrequent buyer, yet have bought 2 machines from forum members in the last year.

I guess some people are confident/happy to buy things from overseas, sight unseen and some people are not willing to take the risk. Different strokes for different folks - a feedback system wouldn't change this.

Personally, I have bought 2 machines from here without seeing them and both arrived as described. Not sure I would do this from overseas, but if others are happy to take that risk, I suspect they will pick up some bargains.

Most feedback systems are pretty worthless anyway - you can buy eBay accounts with 100% feedback, Amazon is full of fake reviews, TripAdvisor reviews are widely available to purchase and Trustpilot routinely allows companies to take down anything that they don't like.

Sending money to people you’ve never met is always going to be risky.

The risk of buying abroad is not really any higher than buying sight unseen in the U.K.

So saying I’ve never done it as the logistics of getting a machine delivered is more hassle than just arranging a Martin drop off

I’ve only had positive experiences of buying off the forum

If it’s an eBay/gumtree/random sale you should be prepared for a non working machine when it arrives and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

I have bought from abroad on here and on other places. @ronsplooter explained it many times before: only invest money you are prepared to loose. Personally it turned out ok or at least no worse than buying in the UK. As a rule of thumb I am always prepared to receive something that isn't quite working anymore. And i was not disappointed and even pleasantly surprised at times. But I also always try to build some kind of rapport with the people I buy from. And I always speak to them on the phone at least once.

Il be selling a few pins next week as I'm in Ireland I guess he won't be buying any of mine even though plenty on here have seen them

OP is never in a million years going to buy a pinball machine from Johnny Foreigner. Never. Ever.
I would not say "Never" Despite what people say on here, there is a big difference between buying in UK as opposed to abroad It is called the Small claims Count and sale of goods act. Although very difficult at least in the UK you have a small chance of recovering your money if scammed. It will be good to hear if anyone bought the Greek TOM after all the fuss.

Strangely I wouldn’t consider buying from Ireland as a “foreign purchase”. Not trying to be controversial but with the same language and similar culture it just seems easier than from other countries. Bit more hassle with transportation but not really much more than from Scotland or Northern Ireland.

Logistically I’m closer to France but mentally buying from there seems more of a risk.
