Hi everyone I seem to be having problems with my shadow and was wondering either if anybody lives near and had knowledge on the machine or could help me out.
The kicker on the mini playfiled does not seem to be working but when testing it no problems seem to occur. Also on start up test report appears about about checking switches. Any help would be greatly appreciated

The switch errors are probably because they haven't been hit for a while, if the kicker isn't working at the moment.

If you play a game with glass off, and press the targets with your finger then those errors should clear.

Still looking through the manual to work out why the kicker might not be working.

I can't see the video, but I wonder if one of the switches in the Test Report is the long-range opto (shining across the Battlefield), which senses that the ball is at the level of the kicker. If that isn't working, I think it would cripple the kicker in-game. There's an adjustment provided to prevent use of the Battlefield in cases like this; it's a lazy 'fix', but at least it's an attempt to compensate.

Opto for the kicker is working fine. Other coils that are on the same fuse work fine. wiring at j127 looks fine.

Either a wire is off the coil underneath the battlefield or Q46 has gone (but don't they usually lock the coil on?).

The wire below the battlefield is loose unsure of where it attaches

Here is a picture of the wire

theres a thumb screw, inside the left hand white rubber, its got like a grip on it, its a long thread but just unscrew it.

Start a game with the glass off, press those switches at the rear of the battlefield so they drop, that should remove those errors and the reason for those errors is that the kicker isn't working so the switches haven't been hit. If the battlefield kicker is kicking in test then the ball isn't being sensed during a game (so isn't triggered) that is likely a switch (likely an opto) issue

You see the yellow coil at the very top of the picture, the brown/voilet wire will attach to one 'lug', the other wire needs to be soldered on to the other lug which hasn't got a wire attached.

Yeah thanks right next to the coil
Just going to get the solder on it I'll tell you how it goes

Is that like fishpaper (card like material) around the lugs?

Again, turn the machine off, if the door is closed theres a potential for 50 volts though those wires.

Welcome to pinball ownership
i bet he's regretting it now

this is normal, @Isaac you can expect to be dealing with issues and errors and problems and failures and stuff falling off and cracking and breaking and wearing out and getting stuck on an almost daily basis. it's a pain in the **** but this is what you've gone and done. that Shadow will be up and running again in no time. as snot said, welcome to the dark side of the hobby

All soooooooo true. Don't ever let your machine overhear you discussing friends and family visiting to play it, a pinball get together or similar, that is asking for trouble and it will play up double
