Have got a plastic protector on mine and still broke it the other week!

It's been fine for years then today I noticed the screws were loose. I tightened them and the first game after Nate G broke the plastic. I should have left them loose to absorb the shock

Sounds about right, happened to me about 10 seconds into playing, not too long after tightening those scews... the post rubber has expended some which is what I blamed.
