Finally…..The Insider Connected App!

Think the servers have been nuked as a result! Looks like it’s just an app wrapper for the website, interested to see if they add any more functionality or if that’s going to be it.

Yeah, I cannot even get in to the app!

I was hoping it was going to be a proper app!

Yep, virtually identical, and it only took them 2 years!. I guess I can forget my dream of head to head play 1 day, they just aren't upto it. Achievements, leaderboards and useless badges it is then.

2 years to get a browser link via an app?

Pretty sure this is exactly the same thing I’ve had on my Home Screen for the last two years

Can't wait to play all those games on location, oh wait there's like 0 near me 🤣
Is there genuinely nothing on location in Swindon? If not then your nearest IC machine might be the FF Pro at Special When Lit! Wild

Well that'll explain why insider wasn't happy yesterday evening!

If you had an offline QR code (like a printed or Google pay one) that you scanned at a pin, was it actually connecting and recording stats like normal?

It was logging in OK on the machines at Tilt, haven't had time to check if they've appeared on the site though.

App should of been released with the system. Just shows how far we are behind in pinball technology.

I must admit I thought it WAS an app. Shocked me seeing the video.

It is like releasing a colour TV and then 2 years later sending out the remote control instead of a long stick they shipped with the unit.

Apart from the code update ease, who actually has any interest regarding insider connected. What percentage of the people buying a Stern use the function and are actively engaged with it ?

Is there any data available ?

Isnt it pretty much needed now if you want to progress in Venom and possibly John Wick?

For everything else its just collecting achievements and high score tracking, although I'm sure I read once they gave out free game credit/s for certain titles that you could use on the pay to play games on location for promotions.

Apparently John Wick sends you a 'hit' message as a task to complete in order to progress. I'm not sure who that's intended to attract.

I don’t think Stern would release this data.

Anecdotally I have seen various operators on Pinside say that their IC machines do better than their non-IC machines on location (though of course there may be other factors contributing).

I personally see it as a bit of extra fun, it doesn’t detract from anything and I love stats and data so anything which tracks that sort of thing is a win in my book. Other people might like the social gaming aspect of it e.g. venue leaderboards but that doesn’t do much for me. I also don’t really care for the badges and achievements it gives you but I know some do try to collect those and that can give you a bit more mileage out of pins you play a lot.

I can understand IC connected titles doing well on site, but would deduce that was probably down to them being newer releases and more popular ?

On site if you can pay to play via the app that's good, but I've yet to see any real reason to be interested as a buyer.

Personally, I like the achievements per game, the badges and also things like the operator leaderboards. I think it’s a great product and always log in when playing a modern stern.

I really like it- I can never remember what scores I’ve gotten and have been fortunate that where I am based there’s been a number of games with IC hooked up. Also when I’ve been to Europe or the States, I like the time stamps to see what games I played etc. it’s become a habit logging in and it’s a bit disappointing now when a Spike 2 game isn’t connected

Definitely recommend the Pindigo app for score tracking, with the benefit of also working with non-IC machines. It doesn’t give you the same granular level of detail on time stamps etc but great for high score tracking.

I think Insider Connected is great and to be fair to Stern, they haven’t really changed for it (maybe hidden in the NIB cost).

I like tracking scores and achievements on my games and it gives you a different way to play, going for a particular shot for collecting things.

Plus, you can track scores of friends etc.

IC was not for those that already play but to bring in those that don’t
