Four pinball machines on the Grand Pier at Weston-super-Mare which should be in super top nick (Big Buck, Shrek, Spiderman and Batman) are absolutely filthy filthy filthy. You can barely see the artwork or even some of the lights because its so dirty. Why do the operators let them get into this disgusting state? Also it would be nice if he flippers had some rubber on too. Deary me. If anyone has a skeleton coin-door key please for the love of god take a cloth to those playfields!

NEVER let the community down. It becomes your responsibility to explain why to the establishment, find out who the operator is and kick some f###ing butt. You know deep inside that this ain't good enough, do what you can to make it right my pin-loving brother!

Hutt! Hutt! Hutt!

;)

Yup... and they arent interested in either cleaning up or selling... They need to sort them tho, as last time i played (or tried to!) they were literally unplayable!

For some reason arcades love to cling onto their filthy, barely working pinball machines. Last year i made a very generous offer to by 3 machines from Star Amusements which operate most of the arcades on Southend Seafront. An Elvis, Stern Playboy and Revenge from mars. None of them have any GI, playfields barely visable from the dirt, the dot mateix on Elvis is completely outgassed and blank the whole time with plenty more other issues. They refused my offer as they wanted to keep them and to this day theyre still sat in the corners of their arcades.

It is sad but when you get stubborn owners who dont understand how the games should look and play theres not mich that can be done really.

I bet they still take ****loads of money in the holiday season though.
I don't know. They are tucked right at the back. Between the rather boring XOX fruit machines and the karting. There's a Wrestlemania WWE pin in one of the arcades in town though which is close to mind condition, and right by the entrance too/

Yup - Olympia arcade... they always have one or two in.... Just a shame it's a Wrestlemania ...

You can see it in the doorway... https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.3...4!1si7CNdsYijgikp47sPHTVSw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

Goldengate had a couple at the back last time i was there also... newish Sterns... (I think Metalica + one other - both in good working condition) :)

Better condition than the ones on the old pier that were incinerated and dropped onto the famous mud.

Just

Pins are just novelty equipment now . A pretty box to compliment the pushes ticket games and banks of fruits. As long as the coin mech works they will unlikely get any attention

Sounds like the two in Bexhill, if they're still there! A T2 and Theatre of Magic that worked like 6 years ago and then were walled behind other dead machines. Also filthy and just about working.

I've tried to get hold of them, as have others. All told the same thing. "We don't sell anything here." because word of mouth is it's a money laundering scheme, which is why it's always open with maybe 2 punters playing the slots if anyone is in there. Also why it's full of old broken cabs.

sad to hear of the machines on the main pier at Weston , it was Mr Bee's arcade near the sea front that had a lovely collection of pins back in the day , it just doesn't make sense that they dont maintain AND dont want to sell :(

Ones on pier in a state so left
but KISS nice to see and played well despite no replay set up
Nicest pin by far in Weston in the TSSP in CEX . Low replay level as well!

Bee's and Olympia both had great selections in the late 80's and on into the 90's. Olympia always shaded it for me especially as they had Banzai Run, TAF, and the only Safecracker I saw in the wild.

That wasn't all at the same time - but I do remember both arcades had Phantom of the Opera when it was released and the one in Bee's had the volume turned up so high you could hear it across the road in Olympia! :)

i'm going back to the late 70's andy !! i used to get the train from bristol to play the pins in weston , mr. bee's had 2 banks of pins at the back left of the arcade , maybe totalling at least 25 machines , mainly em's , but some solid states that were newly released at the time were there too ...

please dont take them away, i love playing them whenever i go even though they are bashed in and uncared for...

This! If only there was some way to improve the condition of machines on site rather than taking them away. I would be far happier if I could hang out at a bar with some mates drinking beer, chatting **** and playing pinball rather than having machines at home. I probably wouldn't have any machines of my own if I lived in a city with a load of locations as per a lot of places in the US.

Pretty much what happened to me when I asked, no... **** off.

Also, we don't look after them!

Verns amusements in rhyl in early 2000 had some good pins, sttng,cv,sw,rfm etc.I offered to clean and fix for free,I even said empty coins before I start.Explained I was an enthusiast, they weren't interested

Not jumping to any ones defense but as an operator Pins are a nightmare, especially if you have a few. After spending an hour and a half on twilight zone today, another hour on rollergames, another hour finding and trying to get the lamps on the AF chair to stay there, Demolition man then decided that it going to have a voltage problem with the flippers. T2 (usually reliable as anything) is having a total tantrum. This along with finding the time to but BOP back together and source the board fault problem of Getaway. As an operator it is a question of priorities especially at this time of year, when 20 pins combined take less than our best video game. - (and dust - drives us mental). but on the plus side, we see more and more youngsters playing them. Off to order some more bloody rubbers now.

Yep, I saw them recently too. I guess these things must still take a few quid or they would be biting our hands off with our generous offers of a grand each to take them away.

Health and safety. I desperately wanted to play the pins at Butlins Minehead. Some were missing balls but the Star Trek just wanted a good clean and a stuck ball releasing. No one was prepared to slide the glass off for a member of the public to help out. I helped them out by switching them off though.

Not necessarily - a lot of places were chucking these things out in skips years ago. I suspect many will be holding onto them as they're seeing prices skyrocket even for scrap projects now

I was in Brighton on Saturday and the arcade under the archway still has The Addams Family and Spiderman. I thought they used to have a Stern Indie, but that appears to have gone now.

Was the Addams Family working? I’ve been going to Brighton every summer for the last 4 years and never seen it turned on!
