I actually kinda dislike this film. I know I know. I'm a film nut and within that an 80's film nut but I never really dug this even as a kid. War Games, now that is peak 80's Broderick. Tbf though that is a superb effort at a re-theme. I've always fancied a Mustang too

I like it for its flamboyance; FBDO is almost like a world under glass in that you are whisked off to a place that never existed and couldn't exist. But if we are talking great 80's then we need Better off Dead, Sure Thing, Risky Business, Weird Science, The Wanderers (although that might be 70s), some kind of wonderful, the pick up artist. I got a box of VHS somewhere with all these greats.
I don't know The Wanderers I don't think. And yes Lebrock..... Absolute stunner. I love John Hughes stuff. Weird Science is totally bonkers.

Glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t get FBDO. it’s always seemed pretty lame, I’m assuming you’re meant to really dislike the main character.

mind you I think I’m very out of step with 80s movies. Saw a still from one of the Star Wars films last week where darth Vader hasn’t got his helmet on. I can honestly say that I’ve never seen that before so I presumably I’ve never actually bothered watching return of the Jedi. Not 100% certain I’ve ever made it to the end of the empire strikes back either.
