Well after buying a FG on a whim (I love the series) it turned out to kinda hit the spot with its humour and never ceases to amaze me with the amount of call outs it has.
Also the layout albeit simple like the gameplay is a nice break from the deep stuff I own so it’s a keeper and will have a full super shop at some point.
But in the meantime I bought this pair and stuck them on top of the pin and they kinda enhance for the time being

With those in place I set about Designing a better one loosely based on one some American dude made years back that looks like this.

Now a friend on pinfo actually had one of these and said although quite cool and funky the quality was a little suspect for the price and it was mostly down to the poor 3d printed bits that looked quite rubbish close up. So after trying to source one and giving up I set about designing my own so here’s the build so far.

So I took a still pic from the cartoon and draw up on my lappy side by side and this is how it went

When I was kinda happy I sourced some nice pastel acrylics, cut out some bits and bobs on the laser and made a start

Quite happy with the outcome I done a few more and it started to take shape

Whilst that lot was bonding overnight I worked on the 3 stage animation on an old digital picture frame that simply flips between each picture at one second intervals to give the impression of a neon sign. BTW I think the original may have only been 2 frames but on the show it’s definitely 3 so it had to be right.

A quick bodge together to see how it looks before I get my head around the next phase of lighting and maybe added door animation

And finally a little video of it working in its present state

I’ve lost count of the hrs it’s took as I’m not the fastest and family commitments and a little fella to keep happy is time consuming but being a labour of love it’s been well worth the effort.
Gonna have a little break as I have a few pin protector sets to for members of the forum then I’ll get back to it maybe after the WE

Thx for looking Col

That’s awesome mate. Looks brilliant! Can’t wait to see it finished on the machine. [emoji108]

Wow! Fantastic! Just an idea! Rather than have something going on behind the door I.e. through the window, could you remove the door and have it as a animation? so you could show it closed but animate it opening with someone behind it etc?

I did think of that but problem is the fact I’m using an old digital photo frame with the minimum frame time 1 second so I could double up my neon to display 2 pics of each frame to give me 6 frames of animation on the door that may work but maybe for the long term once it’s all done.
A good solution would be large screen covering the whole front to animate windows door and topper but I think I’m getting carried away and the wife thinks I’m nuts the amount of time I’ve spent already lol
