Have you equipped yourself with the 'magic brush' yet (Dremel + Carbon brush 443)? I have fixed most problems on my EM by cleaning switch contacts than adjusting them, a dirty closed switch is not necessarily electrically closed I've learnt.

You can make your own if you are desperate. Grab a screw driver, chop / grind the end off, put it in a vice and then use s a junior hack saw to drop a groove down it.
If you have a softer metal tube then more the better.
By the way, brushes like these are very handy for EMs, the softer gold ones are spot on: -

Just give one of them a good hard rub to make sure they do not leave bristles.
