eBay just asked me to update my bank info.
I then get an email from them telling me I have authorized a Direct Debit!!!!

Yes, it was in connection with their new payments scheme but I did not see DDs mentioned in the emails they sent me nor in the request to update my bank details.

It’s all legit, I had to do this a few days ago.

Been on this new system for a few sales and all seems to work well.... no more PP fees is a bonus, yet the buyer still utilises that method and presumably gets same protection. Downside is waiting a few days for £ in your bank, but again worth it not to pay the PP fees I reckon.

With £1 listings also still on offer, seems a good way to sell an expensive pin.... other than for the potential try on via PP for items not as described etc.

You can set it to pay you once a week or daily. I sold something Sunday night. Got the cash in bank today.
No PayPal fees but I’d still use PayPal to pay personally. More protection as a seller.

I sold something on a £1 sellers fee. (Unbeknown to me the offer had expired but it wasn’t obvious and it allowed me to proceed with listing the advert through the £1 link). The item was An old B&O hifi. It sold for £410. Buyer paid through pp. I paid £12 pp fees. Then eBay charge me £41 sellers fee😡😡😡.
Hours on the phone many arguments and escalations to managers etc... they refunded me. ****ing hate selling on eBay.

When it all goes smoothly, great which is the majority of the time. When it goes South you wish you'd never gotten out of bed that morning. Still there are some good customer resolution people who've smoothed out right fraudulent shysters for me. I've been on the new payments scheme myself now for a couple of months, it's OK.

Sold a TV on ebay the other week, using the £1 max seller fee. Buyer comes to collect and pay by cash and starts off with "Well seeing as ebay take 10% lets say I didn't pick it up but I give you 10% less instead".

His look of disappointment when I told him I used the £1 max sale fee :D He coughed up the correct amount 👍

Something similar happened to me, I was caught off guard so said OK whatever. eBay bots figured out from our messages that I'd sold the item so got a polite warning not to do it again.

The offers state when they expire in the terms & conditions underneath...... and no more PP fee with the new system if they pay that way,

Just ensure you list during the period the offer is valid (usually Friday to Mondays) and don't amend the listing after the offer period has expired or it reverts !
