Dracula or frankenstein

Stern did a Dracula in 79 and then Williams did Bram Stocker’s Dracula in 93. I am going to assume you mean the Williams one but correct me if I am wrong.
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein was a 95 Sega machine and sold a lot less units but they do come up.

I personally prefer Dracula and hence bought one. I prefer the look of it and the genre. Frankenstein’s monster is not such a pretty thing to look at.
I also prefer working on Williams games, they seem more easy to fix. Sega and Data East had some innovations that make them more complicated to get working again.
I haven’t played Frankenstein enough to say how good a game it is.

Dracula. Very atmospheric and a great rule set. It’s defo on my list to own one day.

Not a fan of the theme or not a fan of the machine?

Too many quirks for my liking. The mystery hole is all over the place, bonus rolls over bonus that you already got and you spell drac for a pityful amount of points - it’s a good shooting game let down by the code - I think you could rewrite the code more balanced and more much fun.

Thanks Neil. It hasn’t been in my collection long enough to learn all the quirks and game play. It did surprise me that L1 Roms are all that are available.

It arrived requiring a lot of work and I got it pretty much fully working before taking it to bits for restoration.

Had my BSD for 10 yrs, shopped it during lockdown 1 and put a pinsound board and Colour DMD in it. Pinsound transforms it I have to say. Someone spent a great deal of time using the original movie music, effects and quotes to create an alternative sound package that really works well. Not the best game in the world but played in a dark room with the sound turned up its very atmospheric. Agree with Neil about the code though. Pity it was never developed

I dunno I've never really considered the code to feel unfinished or unbalanced.

Watch Bowen's 99-loop game on Youtube and tell me it isn't still just as fun and challenging for the pros too!

BSD should tick so many of my boxes but it’s always left me cold. I think it’s the colour scheme that just makes it look drab.
I know loads of people love it and the mist multi ball isa great toy but everytime I play it I’m utterly underwhelmed.

Out of curiosity (as I've never seen a BSD in the flesh) does the area where the ball drags across the playfield suffer a lot of wear?

Man, BSD is an amazing game.

It’s unique in the modern era IMHO.

I love the focus on starting all 3 MBs together. A simple concept but bloody hard to do!

It’s the only video mode I enjoy after repeat plays too.

It’s also buggy - I’ve had it crap out in a few tournaments as TD so it’s never in when I’m TD.

We just got a lovely one in flip out !

I've never seen one with wear really, the mist is slow so the ball can rotate - plus its the golden era of playfield finishes!

Zero wear on mine in that area, and the only mylar on it was under the pops. Thread made me play it again today and I'm hooked in that "just one more game and I'll get the stacked multiball" loop 😁
