Hi Mike,
I think i have done this before, since from what i recall the default is even darker than it is currently!
Are you on the light or dark Skin (as both are quite bad - just points me to which one to do first
)

if you hover your mouse over the date it changes to a lighter colour ,easier to see but changing the standard colour to a brighter one would be better and not detrimental to the look
