In Progress Cyber Race homebrew. From virtual to physical (build log)

I designed, made and released a VPX called Cyber Race on and off over the last few years. This year I'd like to get into homebrew so I'm going to be making my virutal table come to life.

Here's a few photos and video of the virtual table. I'm at the beginning of the build so not much to show, however I'll update with pictures as I go.

Just use ws2811 string lights. Do not bother with the ones cobrapin sells.

Can use these for GI or under lenses.

Getting up and running with this. Built a rig to hold the whitewood and electronics, got all the leds needed for inserts and GI. Started to write some of the intial game code. Next will be to populate the whitewood and start testing shots.

Not much progress but managed to make a first cad file and cut the whitewood. Still a few parts to aquire before I can populate it though.

Got most of the parts in now, testing assembly. Hopefully have it flipping soon.

Got the cabinet up today and test fitted the whitewood.

Progressing several bits on this, wiring, making wire forms, building the back box, 3D printing various bits.

Melted snow and ice means the first sand and primer of the backbox.

Some goodies arrived, vinyl overlay for the whitewood and the backglass. I need to crack on with getting this all together now.

The vinyl is a bit of test to see if it's good enough quality. If it is, I'll need to manually add the water slide decals over the inserts and then try to protect it with a clear coat or thin petg.

I've been looking at a printed petg option which would already have the insert decals and would mean I dont need to clear coat it.

Pinfest - yes hopefully if I can get it finished or close.

Cutting the second white wood, my cnc can't cut the full playfield in one pass so I need to tile the cuts and slide the ply down to make the next one. Some slight mis alignment on this one but I think I can save it. Need to order some more inserts to complete it.

Update on the last couple of weekends work...Back on with some work on the cabinet. Sanded and painted with an undercoat,

Then sand, fill, paint repeat until smooth.



Next job was to finish the playfield insert and get the vynil print applied.



This will do for me to build most of the game, I'll most likely make a final playfield with a printed petg overlay.
