Alright peeps
Just wondering how many folk on here have purchased playfields from CPR after signing up for their preorder?

I ask this as I'm beginning to get nervous as I wait for my taxi playfield.

I really wanted a Taxi last year and through my usual channels, I was unable to source one for ages. Then an opportunity arose and I pulled the trigger. I overpaid and it needed a new pf. The deciding factor to pull the trigger on it, was that CPR were taking preorders for their repro. So on the 8th January this year I signed up and joined the queue. This was long before the preorder was full and closed.
I have a confirmation email from CPR.

Now the pf's are finished and shipping but I have heard nothing. Granted, they clearly state on their website that people will be contacted in waves until the 16th August and there is still time.
I've emailed CPR to ask them to put my mind at rest that I'm in the queue (well before they closed for vacation) and I've heard nothing.

My mate was on the preorder list for Whirlwind and never received any thing so never got his pf!

I wouldn't normally be too bothered but I've invested a substantial amount of cash in the project already, in anticipation of the new pf to make it a minter. New plastics, ramps, cab decals, I'm provisionally booked in with Matt Adams to do the pf swap and decals.

So in a long convoluted kind of way, what I'm asking is: has anyone had good or bad experiences with CPR and is anyone else on the Taxi preorder who is either still waiting or paid up and awaiting delivery

Thanks group

Gaz

Bought a centaur PF for a friend through them and whilst the wait was over 4 months, it came as promised. It did have an issue with the clear not being too good (very rough and uneven) but a sanding, reclear and polish solved it. Ended up being a REALLY nice, spotless playfield.

Also, lately they have been experiencing some quality control issues. The Whirlwind PF's they sent to some people were shocking in how bad they were (insert crazing on this one from pinside):

CPR do explain why this 'crazing' happens, and have also explained what they are doing to 'try' and stop it from happening again. As far as i know, they have not found a permanent solution.

I have also been on the preorder for the TOTAN PF's for....wait for it......3 YEARS PLUS!!!!! Every year or so they say, 'wont be long now', or 'tooling found' but mostly, its just a load of ******** to stop people mailing them constantly. As for the taxi preorder, no i'm not on it, but i thought i would share my experience anyway.

Thanks mate
Hopefully I haven't dropped off the system!! Otherwise I'll be giving Henrik a ring!!

Though it'd need some serious skills to rescue that playfield!!

I'm not going to be overly fussy over the quality of the finish any things better than the current one!!

Tell me about it mate. I shall certainly be sending an email venting my frustration should it fall through!!

Sounds like a bad situation to be in as you have so much depending on it. Either they are bad at communication or bad at organising. The first may mean you have a playfield, the second means you might not which is bad given the wait you have had.
I read those links and it is dissappointing to see the finish on some PF with regards to the inserts especially at full price but they might still be a better bet than a ruined PF. It all sounds like a lottery to me which puts me off but if they did another TAF run I would probably gamble.

Thanks Guys. Rudi I'll look into pm ing that CPR guy if I hear nothing after the due date.

Good luck Gaz, We are all on your side and if it doesn't turn up all we have to do is set Poibug on them, that will sort them out. They will be begging you to take as many playfields as you want just to shut him up from bending there ear.
Seriously hoping things come through for you buddy.

Don't want to flog me your place in the TOTAN queue do you, Russ me old pal!;)

That could be arranged. I do have someone who has first refusal, but he will be selling his Totan to fund a Tron after summer and i dont think he will want it then. Its already been well over three years since ive been on the list (placed on the very day they announced it on their website) so i wouldnt hold my breath for it to be soon. I will certainly keep you in mind if they ever contact me for payment.

Dibs on your mate's TOTAN

Was just doing to say the exact same thing Geoff, but you beat me to it.
Get that wanted list changed if you want dibs on that TOTAN.

I will enquire on behalf of you guys. It didnt last long in the collection when i had one, but it certainly has the 'buy me' look and feel to it.

Someone on pinside asked if the Totan PF's were ready yet (14 hours ago). Mike from CPR replied:

"ToTAN inserts are here and I ordered enough to make twice the PFs we have preorders for so everyone should easily get one."

Thats all he had to say on it, but its something at least.

Sounds good, keep me in mind Russ if you hear anything and I'll be ready!

Can be a mare a times dealing with some yanks - they dont even replay sometimes.
Illinois pinball worst for that from my experience

Well the playfield arrived today, whilst I was out typically . They're redelivering tomorrow.
Rather annoyingly I have to pay £38 import duty so add that to the pf cost and shipping, the whole lot stands me in at £520. I must add that due to not having a pot to **** in at the minute I opted for a budget grade pf which will have a couple of cloudy inserts. But it was $125 cheaper.
I'll post pics and details tomorrow when I open it.

Woohoo super stoked. Arrived today, all inserts look fine. Only thing I can find wrong is some tiny white streaks in the grey of the ball lock area and to the right of the pops. Very minor and well worth saving $125 bucks for.
Now just gotta save up for Matt Adams to do his magic:-)

Here's some pics.

See in the bottom 2 pics the white streaks in the grey. I can live with that.

My faith in CPR is restore, super quick delivery too. 6 days

Cal, yes the Marilyn copyright stuff no longer applies so they've gone back to it. My existing pf is an original Marilyn anyway so I have Marilyn Roms installed. My translite is LOLA though.

And Carl I do believe the rubber sizes were on the original.

Re. Marilyn/Lola; at my old workplace we had one of each. The Lola one's program chips were blown by a solenoid failure and over-fusing, so being cheapies (and short of time) we copied the chips of the other, resulting in a Lola playfield and translite, with Marilyn named on the displays. Years later I saw it on Ebay still with the same combination (I think). I recognised a couple of 'repair' jobs that I'd done.
