My Space Station has many corroded bulbholders. New ones for the 45 degree angle "below the playfield" type are about 4 quid a pop.

I tried evaporost on some flasher holders- it seemed to work well.

I have now done some 44 bulb holders - one that would not work at all unless held under pressure. The problem being corrosion on the centre plunger and where it meets the center washer at the back.

Again, this chemical seems to have cleaned them up a treat.

Only time will tell, but early signs are encouraging 20220321_175216.jpg

I always buzz the insides of dodgy holders with a dremel to remove corrosion from the inside of the centre pin and case. With these two, it failed.

Both tested fine for continuity between the shell of the holder and the relevant tab. It was the moving centre pin that was the source of the trouble.

The snaps I do have are not that clear. I just took shots so I had a log of what to resolder.

Another possibility is that soaking them caused the fibre spacers to expand and tighten the holders up a bit. Only time will tell whether this will reverse with heat / evaporation
