Hi folks, on advice from col I just wanted to gain some opinions on Cols Spider-Man he has put up for sale in the classifieds just now. I’m fortunate to have first dibs.

Unfortunately due to COVID I’m unable to see it in person. But from the pictures it looks great.

Surely a good buy for that sort of money?

To keep the sale transparent I asked Alan to maybe ask others opinions rather than mine on SM being your very first Pin.
My take with this being my 1st SM too I find it easy to maintain with the boards being pretty bomb proof on this era too so I personally think they give a lot less grief than Ball/Will.
That said I’m sure it’s still quite daunting as a 1st pin for anyone with it being quite loaded and a lot going on.

Nuff said

It's a good price, and this title is good value for money. It's also known for being very reliable. Col's looks really clean & tidy. You can get a mylar ring for the magnet from pinparts.co.uk, which will prevent further wear. For information I sold mine not long ago for £3250 - it had a shaker, side blades, and a bit less magnet wear - but the ramps weren't as nice.

As a first pin you will be very happy with this. Just make sure you install the ramp protector as Col mentioned on his ad.

Good choice, great game and one you don't get bored with too quickly. Easy to maintain (but pins are difficult in general, so don't expect to do nothing - you might not have to but I would expect to).

Mine has been bomb proof - hopefully still is (it has moved on now)....

Thanks fubar [emoji1303] I’d only looked at cliffys for the magnet before il have a look at the Mylar. Also yes I’ll put the ramp protector on my shopping list. Looks like macro is the only place that have them just now. cheers

Another thumbs up here for a great seller and a great price. I think Col said it had been in home use for 10 years prior, so that sounds to me like it has shown just how reliable these things can be. And there's a great and supportive community here for helping with any minor issues that do come up.

I sold my SM for exactly the same money a couple of years back now. And i can't imagine that they have gone down in price.
Condition-wise: it was slightly better but wear on the dock ock magnet is very common.

Spiderman is one of Sterns best.
It has got some issues yes but the price reflects that and with all the work that Col has done its as good as you will get.
Pick up and play, what more can you ask for.
Buy with confidence from one of this forums top guys.
D.

Someone may have said this above, so apols if I’m repeating, but the Doc Ock wear can be covered by a Carbon cliffy ring (1stop pinball sometimes has these in stock).
Otherwise Spider-Man is a great game (i’ve had mine 7yrs) and Col is a trusted member not obviously here to make money like the odd seller from time to time, so if you want it and can afford it then I’d say it’s a good place to start owning a pinball.

ALL machines need maintenance and ALL games suffer failures from time to time. Saying that, except for a flipper rebuild, my SM has been flawless!

SM is an excellent first game. You'll enjoy it. It is deep enough without being overly complicated. And the flow is superb.
And remember that when you get bored with it, you can always sell it back here.

Yeah absolutely, a year ago at this time I thought The Home leisure direct prices were the price of pinball.

So glad I stumbled across this awesome forum [emoji16][emoji1303]

You're not wrong there.

Fortunately I did exactly the same thing. Enjoy the SM
