Coil DIY Winding...

Anybody ever wound a coil with new wire? I may have to do this and wondered if people had tried before.

un-wind an old coil first, just to see what your up against. bloody hell ,with my last few posts I'm coming across as a right old git.

Never done it myself but I know people who have, using a drill to wind it on. Some have used pedometers to count the windings, others just measure the resistance...
Using an old coil is just common sense Stan, not tight ;-)

but. Some EM coils are notoriously difficult to source... I had to get some sent from Canada for my Recel machine, which I was very lucky to find.
If they weren't available then self winding would have been the only option.
