CCR and TOTANR

D

Deleted member 2463

so the latest I've heard is that CCR followed very quickly by TOTANR are both coming.

What a shame.

Shame. Neither titles excited me, that's not to say I don't like them, just would have preferred a TOM or WH2O.

WH20 looks like its dead. The trademark on it hasn't been renewed. Same as BBB.

The question of CCR code is an interesting one. I wonder if they've got CCC author on board?

So they asked Eric then he heard nothing last rumour was they were finishing it themselves.

@myPinballs - apparantly the original coder has 'finished' off the game. To me, this does not interest me at all. Having played CC original I must admit I did not like it. CCC is streets ahead. If you crack the code Jim - I would be interested in one.

So @Neil McRae who is the 'source' on this ?

Is it 'click bait' Kanaeda ? - if it is - he has been wrong plenty of times before.

Chris has been right more times that he has been wrong and I’m not sure I’d say he’s ever really been wrong, but that isn’t the source.

I’d quite like a new cc. I’d defo be working out how to get Eric’s code running on it though if its not included.
Which is doable but I suspect CGC might surprise us all with worthy code in itself - I’ve just about finished figuring out how to boot other roms on my AFMR.

Neither game is actually great to play, the current cost of each is really driven by scarcity rather than high demand. I like the remakes but can’t see me picking up either of these unless they were insanely cheap.

How many remakes do we think they need to sell in order to be viable?

Well I'd guess a 1000 and they will easily sell 1000 of each of these according to a few folks CGC have made a packet out of the remakes, they have done the hard work in the systems integration and finding a supply chain.

1000 sounds quite doable in the current market. Hell, much as I hate it even TOM would presumably shift a thousand copies.

What’s the barrier to redoing TAF? Are there still issues regarding one of the actors and their likeness?

Licenses are the issue as I understand it but also going back before WPC-95 has other issues with the sound emulation.

Well, they are gonna need to do something pretty decent to out do ccc that’s all I'm gonna say. This discussion of what to do with the original version has been rumbling on for years. To be honest i'm surprised they took on cc if they couldn't get the python ccc to run with their new firmware. The pinmame side of it is of no use for ccc and is just the same as an arcade 1up!

If the original team are involved then that could be interesting, or if they did have some updates already done that were never released then that might be more like it. Last i heard (years back) the original coder wanted lots of $$$$ to work/release updates for it and also wasn't too supportive of the ccc project. Things may have changed though. I know Eric paid out of his own pocket for the original voice actors to make more speech quotes on ccc, so that won't be in there will it.

Surely all CGC really do is change the display. The software are all from the original roms.
These are all software adjustments. You do not get DN in to copy an existing pin. The hard work is done.

All the pinball podcasters who leak are told what to leak. Chris has been incorrect more than he has been correct lately.

Unless you have pals within the companies you won’t know for sure. When I have been told about new releases I am told to keep them off the internet as it’s done in confidence.

Totan is probably the prettiest pinball game ever. Not the best game. I don’t mind it as it’s easy! If they do remake it - I hope they put an auto launch on it. CGC always do a fantastic job on the big screen. ToM remake would also be popular. But CC is sill the most collectible pinball from the wpc95 era. Due to how rare it is. I think I have owned one and refurbished another. That’s it. In 20 years.

I'm curious - what would a nice CC machine go for nowadays? And do folks think the original would go up/down in value if a remake comes out?

Good post! Yep, its all pinmame emulation so unless they are coding again in assembly then cc isnt getting much of an update. (Which also would mean the rom update would run on original games to)

Totally agree on the auto launcher. I know from first hand experience that jpop doesnt like them! CV is the only one of his games with one due to Camerons heavy involvement.

TOTAN is such a pretty game, but not one I'd put in my most wished for list.
CC is fun for a while, but unsurprisingly feels unfinished, but CCC - Who doesn't love Cowboys Vs Aliens :)
Last time I played CCC was at the Welsh open a few years back, not sure who's it was, but it was great fun
Edit: Thinking about it I'm pretty sure I played it at the Slam too, the same one I assume......

Both get regular VPin play here.
