All the talk of the CGC remake has reminded me that I need to get around to installing CCC. Has anyone here done it? Are there kits available or do you need to buy the parts separately? Is there an idiots guide available?

Done it many times for people and i also make a custom update for it to use my colour rgb dmd led panels instead of the regular lcd screen

Can build a drop in kit for the computer and dmd display part if interested. Order the proc board yourself

I could probably install it all for you to if you send/bring me the game and the proc board

I would take up Jim's offer since the DIY process does take quite a bit of effort to do it right... I did mine a while ago now, before LED panels were a thing so my CCC has an ACER widescreen LCD, the CPU is now a Raspberry Pi 3 which I have helped a few people with over the last year or so (Linux skills are a big help!)

I'm also looking forward to seeing the new CCr, in the hope I could maybe upgrade to a big LED panel as on the recent remakes.
mike.

If you want to upgrade your game to an rgb led panel instead of lcd monitor I can sell you just the display parts needed and the files to add/change in the software build. All looks factory when installed

That's certainly an option - I might wait and see what the remake looks like in case I feel the need to supersize :-)

the big LED screen that CGC use is a HDMI LCD screen which with the right adjustments would work with CCC

I've got the link for the one CGC use Mike, I'll dig it out.

is the screen data in these new big screens and remakes still 128x32 resolution or did they upscale to a higher dot count?

ccc uses original extracted and specially coloured dmd frame data (not the same as colourdmd either) using a special pygame graphics engine dot system. There is no way to upscale it so you could make the 128x32 data bigger or wider or larger but is that really what you want?

Rgb led dmds in my view are the best here

maybe a chat at pinfest

Jim - are they not up scaling it for the regular LCD display though?

Yeah but the pixel width must change then if you stick in a 1080p capable LCD screen. Which would then do the same with the CGC screen.

Yes, the size of the dots changes to fit the screen resolution so it maintains the correct original dmd pysical size on various lcd resolutions, but the overall dot amount ie 128x32 stays the same.

I thought cgc (remakes) had improved the actual number of dots displayed not just scaled it.

They have on some of the graphics for MBR but not for the earlier titles.

Sounds like some misunderstanding going on here ( maybe by me :) ) but it's pretty obvious CGC have vastly improved the resolution of the ingame graphics in all 3 remakes so far ( when you don't have the poor mans edition ). 4 x the number of dots I believe....

kevlar, yes you are right sorry I've not said it that well. Yes they have updated the dots with more detail and colour. On MBR though they've gone another step forward. The graphics improvements on the remakes are done using the great pixel dot pitch which allows to add alot more detail.

On MBR they've taken that much further with completely new graphics in some cases and much more graphic detail - worst case CCC would look like a colour version of the first image (like colorDMD).
