i've been pimping my LOTR and getting it all looking shipshape piece by piece, and it's now all working perfectly and looking the cat's pyjamas for the most part. still some plans for it (attend to humming flippers, install backbox lighting to replace fluorescent tube, get palantir mod, maybe attend to the siderails and consider something to hide the cab by the flipper buttons which is worn down to the wood...) but i'm not far away now.

inside the cabinet, though, it's a rat's nest. this game came originally from Italy, i've not actually been inside the power box yet but i can see all sorts of wiring coming from it, on top of the transformer input i was expecting. and the other side, by the tilt bob, is far far worse, with clusters of unused wires and connectors.

This is what the manual says it should look like -

should i tidy this up and get rid of unnecessary confusing wires? this game is never going to have a printer or a note acceptor, i don't need it to have the coin mech, all it needs is a 12V feed for the DMD, another 12V feed for the shaker motor (i plan to add a splitter to the current supply on the right side), and wires going to the start button, flippers, and coin door closed switch(es). are there any dangers to look out for in my planned cleanup operation?

oh, one last thing - what's this thing that seems to have recently tumbled into the cab? looks familiar but i can't find the source

I would tidy it up if it bugs you, but I wouldn't go removing any 'unnecessary confusing' wires.

That 'thing' looks like the pivot bit from kicker or slingshot mech ?? Maybe old bit sheared off or something in the past.

leave it as it is. Unless you have OCD who the **** cares what the wiring looks like inside;) You'll be sticking wiring looms in the dishwasher next if you're not careful

Looks fine to me . I also got nowhere trying to stop the buzzing flippers on my Spidey - tried a lot of the standard advice, filing bits and pieces and the likes, but it made no difference - gave up in the end and just played it instead.

Option a) it's your hand holding a small mechanical item, probably connects to your arm which connects to your elbow thingy...

Option b) the mechanical bit looks a bit like a part I found in the cabinet of my i500 not long after I took ownership. Turn out to be part of the right angle elbow joint (see a theme here?) that connected one of the slingshots to the solenoid.possibility?
