Cab decal wrinkle

Hi all - interested to hear if anyone has a tried and tested method of repairing a decal wrinkle on a machine.

I plan to replace the decals at some point in the future - but for now my pinball OCD is getting the better of me! So would be interested in any temporary fixes/suggestions.

Thinking a very cool iron? Or is that a bonkers idea?

Thanks in advance.

I use a heat gun to get the decals off - so would be nervous trying with that. Being folically challenged I don’t own my own hair dryer - will see if I can sneak the Mrs’ out to the garage! That set on a low setting is a good idea.

Heat gun and a foam squeegee.

Go easy, but you'll see immediately that they'll start to bubble slightly where there are small pockets of air. Flatten with the squeegee.

Also it's worth asking how the wrinkle got there in the first place. If it's just an application mistake, then fine, but if it's due to pressure from the legs or the coin door then it'll be back in no time - in which case you need to trim the decals around those sections (1mm away).

If decals came from me or Retro Refurbs then by all means blast them with as much heat as you want. Nuke the bast*rds. Hair dryers are for wimps - that video I made is mean using a 2000w hot air gun which strips paint and it barely tickles my decals.

But if decals are OLD or they came from another source then you run the risk of destroying them.
