Ended up working late this evening and got back to find my wife opening up the latest bank statement.......

GULP!

She wasn't happy about the £300+ on the colour DMD. Tried to justify it and failed miserably.

Things got worse when she found the payment for a WCS. "but our son will love it.." This cut no ice...

After getting a tongue lashing for that she turned onto the next page and payment for an AFM seemed to jump out at her.:oops:

Got a feeling I'm going to be in the dog house for a while. If Predator puts in an appearance in the near future then I'm totally screwed. I'm rapidly running out of rooms to redecorate for her to take the heat off me.

On the subject of predator is there a thread here for it? As I am getting ever so moist with anticipation now :)

This rings so true! Just finished the Cabin and put all the pins in, the wife didn't know about DH. We get it in without her noticing, neighbour comes round to look at all the pins. Wife comes in, so I and two mates form a wall, with arms over each others shoulders all is going great until the neighbour confesses his favourite has to be DH!! The wife looks confused for a minute then peers over my shoulder!! GULP!

CFTBL Color DMD arrived Sat! GTA 5 on the shelf and playstation 4 deposit confirmation comes through and Hobbit 2k instalment paid up. If I want a divorce I'm going the right way about it!

Did you not say to say her that you have sold or going to sell a couple of machines so there will be some money coming back in ;)
 
Just milk the 'investment' line and that you'll take her away with the profits...... someday.
 
Do what I do, just tell the Missus you're looking after them for a mate who doesn't have any room.

I don't own any of my 6 machines, I'm looking after them for a wealthy collector called Dave Bishop.........;)
 
Not sure what I can bring to this conversation except my sequence of events;

1) buy the getaway
2) buy the shadow
3) wife leaves, I start divorce proceedings
4) quickly fill games room with 3 more pins
5) get a new girlfriend who seems to be enjoying my pinball machines.

You're also getting a Predator? Awwww FFS man! Every other household in the North East is going to have one. Thought I was getting an exclusive.

WOW.
I am only just married, not sure I would get away with this stuff. I told the wife the story to see how she would react and she said if it is your money, you can spend it. I knew I married her for the right reasons.
I guess the ultimate question is, do you spend money on Pinball whilst she goes without, whilst the family suffer? It is often cited that we can get the money back so would you actually sell them in an emergency?
However, we should also ask, has this got out of control? :rolleyes:
 
I think all of us would sell if the family needed money. Would I be happy to..... erm I'll take the 5th on that;) (Actually of course I would)

Tried to use the investment justification but she's wise to that one and points out that you have to sell to actually make a profit. I did point out that I'm also selling and got the rolling eyes in return.

Oh well, I'm sure there are far worst things I could spend our money on.

Back in the days when my Mum found my lads mags I used exactly that same excuse.
She had no idea who Dave Bishop was mind...
 
That's it Steve, use me as scape goat! ;) Put the COLOR DMD in CFTBL and the speaker panel mod whilst I was at it with the mirrored decal. Looks the nuts...image.jpg Guilty pleasures! But I did please the wife by finishing the baby's nursery yesterday. So am in the good books!
